The Legend Himself

So Jaromir Jagr finally passed Mark Messier in total points and now sits at number 2 of all time in total points behind Wayne Gretzky. At age 44 Jagr is still going and we have no clue when he'll ever stop playing in the NHL. Somehow he is still a scoring threat and his reaction to his huge milestone was that winning the game was more important and the Panthers lost their game against the Bruins. Just wanted to point this out, and my normal posts will resume on Sunday which is Christmas so Merry Christmas people. How long will Jagr play in the NHL? Can Jagr play longer than Gordie Howe? Will Jagr stay with the Panthers? stay tuned....

NHL as of December 12th

Last week in the NHL was just crazy including last night when Patrick Laine literally one timed the puck in his net, just look it up on youtube. We found out that the Vegas Golden Knights' trademark was rejected so now the NHL and the Golden Knights will have to deal with that. The Blue Jackets were undefeated this week and 4th in the NHL at one point, but are now 6th which is still good for the playoffs. The Canadiens murdered the Avalanche 10-1 at home a few days ago which kind of makes up for their 10-0 loss to the Blue Jackets earlier this season. The Flames are on fire (pun) and moved up to 1stin the pacific division at one point, but are 3rd now just one point behind. The Flyers unveiled their stadium series jerseys and they in my opinion are the best outdoor game 2017 jerseys in my opinion. Also the Flyers are on a 9 game winning streak. http://www.espn.com/nhl/injuries sorry I have no time to post them so just use the link for this week. Will the Golden Knights name be changed? Can the Flames continue their comeback? How long will the Flyers winning streak last? stay tuned....

NHL as of December 4th

This past week in the NHL was as usual really good which had the Blackhawks take over 1st place for 1 day than go back to the Carey Prices' I mean the Canadiens. The current top 5 in the NHL are 1. Canadiens 2. Rangers 3. Blackhawks 4. Penguins 5. Blue Jackets so original six teams are doing pretty well. Plus the Blue Jackets are on fire and just keep winning and have jumped to third in the Metro division. Yesterday Mike Smith of the Coyotes made 58 saves against the Blue Jackets and still lost 3-2 in a shootout and almost smashed his stick, but didn't. The Avalanche and Coyotes are now the two worst teams since the Islanders won a few games to move up to 26th in the league. Beside all of that last week wasn't as crazy, but still had some good games. Also the Centennial and Winter Classic are less than one month away so it's time to get excited for that. Lastly I should mention that Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford had an emergency appendectomy surgery right before playing the Flyers and is out for 2-3 weeks now. So as usual the injuries are below. Will the Canadiens stay in first? Are the Blue Jackets going to stay at the top? Will the Coyotes ever move out of the bottom two? stay tuned....
Hurricanes - Elias Lindholm - Day to Day
Blackhawks - Jonathan Toews - unknown
Blackhawks - Corey Crawford - 2-3 weeks
Avalanche - Erik Johnson - 6-8 weeks
Blue Jackets - Matt Calvert - Day to day
Stars - Patrick Sharp - unknown
Red Wings - Justin Abdelkader - 2-4 weeks
Oilers - Darnell Nurse - long term
Predators - Ryan Ellis - Day to day
Rangers - J.T Miller - Day to day
Senators - Mark Methot - Day to day
Senators - Bobby Ryan - Day to day
Penguins - Chris Kunitz - Day to day
Sharks - Tommy Wingels - Day to day
Lightning - Jason Garrison - Day to day
Jets - Mark Scheifele - Day to day

NHL as of November 27th

If you want to read about the new "Vegas Golden Knights" just scroll down and check out the last post. Also I missed a few points in my Vegas post so here. It's just Vegas instead of Las Vegas because locals call Las Vegas just Vegas. Unless you're blind there is in the mask a V which stands for Vegas. I was afraid this would happen, but the logo got leaked on twitter an hour or two before the live unveiling so I actually got spoiled, but at the time it was just a rumor. Anyways it was another rough week for NHL teams injury wise and just like last week I'll list them.
Bruins - Zdeno Chara - Day to day
Hurricanes - Eddie Lack - Concussion
Blackhawks - Jonathan Toews - Day to Day
Avalanche - Semyon Varlamov - Day to day
Red Wings - Niklas Kronwall - Day to Day
Red Wings- Jimmy Howard - unknown
Predators - Ryan Ellis - unknown
Predators - James Neal - unknown
Rangers - Mika Zibinejad - unknown
Flyers - Sean Couturier - unknown
Penguins - Chris Kunitz - unknown
Sharks - Tommy Wingels - Day to day
Lightning - J.T Brown - Day to day
Jets - Toby Enstrom -  Day to day
The standings are all pretty much the same except the Senators are quietly 6th in the NHL with 27th points believe it or not. No surprise the Islanders and Coyotes are the two worst teams. The things is the Metropolitan division is full of good teams and up coming good teams while the Islanders are just meh and don't have anyone that's good except for John Tavares and Nick Leddy who are the only ones who do crap for this crap team. It looks like the Oilers are first in the Pacific division and this seems like the start of another Oilers dynasty as Connor McDavid plays like Wayne Gretszky, he's just amazing at hockey. The Maple Leafs and Red wings unveiled their Centennial Classic uniforms here https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-centennial-classic-uniforms-revealed/c-283940140 and the Penguins revealed their stadium series jerseys here https://www.nhl.com/news/pittsburgh-penguins-stadium-series-jersey-revealed/c-284080778 sorry the page doesn't really show the jerseys so just google "Penguins stadium series jerseys" and it should be somewhere. The NHL has been amazing so far and I can't wait to see what happens this week. Are the Senators for real? Are the Islanders going to be last all year? Are the Oilers true Stanley Cup contenders? stay tuned....

Vegas Golden Knights

Before my main post comes out, last week we learned that the new NHL team is called the Vegas Golden Knights and the colors will be black, gold, red, and grey. When I watched the unveiling live I was a first disappointed with the logo since I thought it looked like a Spartan, but actually the logo fits in with every other logo and it's not that bad. The majority of people thought the Golden Knights would be called the Las Vegas Dessert Knights, but Golden Knights is ok. The uniforms might be on sale by February, but we don't even know what
they look like so we have to wait a while :(. The logo on the bottom is their secondary logo is actually found on the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. I won't judge everything until the jerseys come out so keep an open mind. Also if you don't like the logo you shouldn't worry since this is only the first logo and EVERY NHL team has changed their logo at some point so don't worry. What do you think of the logo? Do you like the name? When will the jerseys come out? stay tuned....

NHL as of November 20th

A pretty rough week for some teams who have had star players suffer long term or just injuries.
Lightning - Steven Stamkos - 4-6 months
Devils - Taylor Hall - 6 weeks
Flames - Johnny Gaudreau - 1 month
Avalanche - Matt Duchane - Day to day
Avalanche - Gabriel Landeskog - Day to day
Kings - Anze Kopitar - Day to day
Wild - Zach Parise - Day to day
Predators - Colin Wilson - Day to day
Senators - Bobby Ryan - Day to day
Penguins - Patric Hornqvist - Day to day
Shark - Tomas Hertl - Day to day
Blues - Alexander Steen - Day to day
As you can see that's a lot of injuries for star players. Connor McDavid got his first NHL hatrick against the Dallas Stars last night which is ironic because he got his first NHL goal against the Stars. Also 2 days ago Matt Calvert of the Blue Jackets to a slap shot to the face and ended up scoring the game winning goal against the Rangers to make the Blue Jackets amazing start even better. The Brooklyn Islanders I mean the New York Islanders have fallen to last place along with the Arizona Coyotes with 14 points and the Canadiens are only 2 points ahead of the Blackhawks for 1st place. Can the Islanders make a comeback? Will the Canadiens hold their lead? Are the Blue Jackets for real? stay tuned....

NHL as of November 12th

We have found out the Las Vegas expansion team will announce their team name and jerseys on November 22nd which is in 10 days! So every team is at least 12 games in and we are seeing some interesting results already. First off the current top 10 is 1. Canadiens 2. Blackhawks 3. Rangers 4. Penguins 5. Capitals 6. Oilers 7. Senators 8. Devils 9. Lightning 10. Red Wings. It looks like the Eastern Conference is doing pretty well for themselves. Also there are some good teams last year that are currently not doing so well like the Wild, Stars, Panthers, Predators, and Islanders. Fans should not worry because it's still relatively early and for the Panthers, they are going through a ton of key injuries to their best players so hopefully they can get back on track. The Carey Prices' I mean the Canadiens are 12-1-1 which is showing how good they are with Price, but when hey played their backup goalie against the Blue Jackets, they lost 10 TO FREAKING NOTHING. So no matter how good their players are, it all comes down to Carey Prices health. The Blackhawks last night had their 7 game winning streak snapped against the Capitals in over time, so now they have to got for the point streak. Some bad news for current Hurricane and former Blackhawks Bryan Bickell who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis which explains why Bickell lost his touch and couldn't skate very well. Luckily he has hope he will make a return to the NHL. It is too early to judge which teams for sure are good so once it's 30-40 games in we can probably know who's hot and who's not. Can Carey Price stay healthy? Will Bickell return to the NHL? Can all the good teams that are currently bad make a comeback? stay tuned....

WInter Classic Jerseys

So the Blues and Blackhawks have finally revealed their winter classic jerseys for their January 2nd Game in St. Louis. Which one do you think is better?

Update

Hey guys I know I don't really post that much anymore and I'm sorry. I've been unmotivated to post lately since I just want to enjoy watching hockey like I used to which got me interested in the NHL. Before I always had to worry about getting a post out as soon as possible, but now I think I might just do once a week talking about all the NHL news for the week. Unless I get the urge to post more I'll just do once a week and I'll let everyone know if that changes. I hope you respect my decision, more posts soon. (P.S) I might post a current standings post soon MAYBE so stay tuned....

Crazy Day 1

Holy crap what a first day. Auston Matthews scores 4 goals in his NHL debut and the Maple Leafs still manage to lose. The Blackhawks score an own goal. Jonathan Quick gets injured and the Oilers score seven goals in their first game at Rogers Place. First off Auston Matthews actually scored 4 goals against the Senators which was absolutely crazy and all I can say is that this guys should be the captain of the Leafs for sure cause his team sucks, but he doesn't so...yeah. The Blues and Blackhawks played a close game that had the Blues winning 3-2 until the Blues got an empty netter and Seabrook and Keith worked together to put it into their own net. I don't even want to talk about it since it was embarrassing as a Hawks fan to witness that with my very own eyes. The Sharks edged the Kings 2-1 at home and Jonathan Quick has sustained a lower body injury that could be deadly to Kings, we'll just have to see how serious it is. Lastly everything went well for the Oilers as the beat the Fames in the battle of Alberta 7-4 in their new home. Is Auston Matthews for real? Can the Hawks bounce back? How long will Quick be out? stay tuned....

News Before Regular Season

So the NHL regular season is starting up tomorrow and AHHHHHHHHHH, but seriously it is starting tomorrow and a lot has happened since my last post. Nail Yakapov got traded to the Blues for almost nothing which adds to the list of first overall picks the Oilers traded away. Yakapov has not done anything special in Edmonton and this was necessary for Edmonton and Yakapov. Maybe Yakapov and the Blues will work out and Yakapov can become a real first overall pick. Next up we have Jonathan Huberdeau out for 3-4 months when he took a skate to the back of the foot or leg during a preseason game against the Devils. That sucks for the Panthers especially since they have Stanley Cup aspirations for this year and missing out on their former third overall pick who has been a huge part of the Panthers obviously hurts it. Hopefully he'll be back as soon as possible. Also the Panthers finally named their captain and that was Derek MacKenzie. The alternate captains are Jussi Jokinen and Aaron Ekblad. MacKenzie has been a good leader even though he is 35 years old so once he retires or leaves the Panthers Aaron Ekblad will likely take over considering he's a first overall draft pick and a stud defenseman. Next Sidney Crosby has been diagnosed with a concussion or at least put into concussion protocol. Crosby did skate with the Penguins today so we don't know for sure what's going on or if he's ok. Crosby said himself that it' going day by day so we'll just have to find out later. The Flames have finally signed superstar Johnny Gaudreau to a six year 40.5 million dollar contract. The Flames struggled to sign him and wanted him signed by the opener so luckily they reached an agreement. Speaking of signing, Nikita Kucherov has signed a bridge deal  contract for 3 years worth about 14.3 million dollars with the Lightning so he can stay and keep going for the Stanley Cup. Just like the Flames the Lightning have struggled to sign him so luckily for the Lightning he wanted to stay so bad he signed short term for now. Lastly Rasmus Ristolainen resigned with the Sabres with a 6 year 5.4 million dollars a year deal. He has been an important player for the Sabres so that's good that he resigned. That's about it with the NHL news. I will probably do a review of opening night which is tomorrow so watch out for that. Anyways I'll see you guys after opening night. Are the Panthers screwed with out Huberdeau? Should the Oilers have traded away Yakapov? Was Derek MacKenzie the right choice for captain? stay tuned....

Connor McCaptain

Connor McDavid has been named the youngest Captain in NHL history and the 15th captain for the Oilers. This wasn't really a big surprise , but I'm still happy to see it finally happen. There is nobody else on the team that truly deserves it so McDavid is the right choice. The alternate captains are Jordan Eberle, Milan Lucic, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. That wasn't too much of a surprise either. I found this amazing video the Oilers posted so click the link to watch it because it is actually really cool. https://www.nhl.com/oilers/video/the-history-of-oilers-captains/t-277437406/c-45091603 Other news about the Oilers is that they have been reportedly talking about a trade with the Blackhawks involving former first overall pick Nail Yakapov for some prospects, just a heads up. Also the NHL season is 5 days away! the preseason has been good, but the wait is over in less than a week! Was this the right choice? Will McDavid be a good captain? Will the Oilers trade away Nail Yakapov? stay tuned....

World Cup of Hockey Wrap Up

I know this is a little late but team Canada has won the World Cup of Hockey. Sorry I should have said CANADA HAS WON THE WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY 2016. I've got to admit that final game was pretty epic especially the ending. Believe it or not team Europe got the first goal 4 and a half minutes in when Zdeno Chara got a pass and fired it in from the middle of the left circle. That goal was the only goal until late in the third period Patrice Bergeron tied it late with 2:53 left to go on a deflection from Brent Burn's one timer slap shot. Before that Canada was doing so well, but couldn't put anything behind Jarslov Halak who was standing on his head (playing well). I honestly fet something coming from Canada so I wasn't too surprised. Then with 43 seconds to go Brad Marchand gave Canada the late lead when Jonathan skated it the zone with the puck and turned around to pass it to Machand who was wide open in the slot and he fired it home. Both teams played it out till the end and that was it. Sidney Crosby got the MVP for Canada and everyone got the hoist the flower vase... I mean the World Cup of Hockey Trophy. As for team Europe they should be blessed for even making it to the finals and this shouldn't have come in as too much of a shock even though they had the lead the whole game. Was it Halak's fault at the end? Should Crosby have gotten MVP? Will anyone ever beat Canada? stay tuned....

World Cup of Hockey Final Preview

No surprise Canada is in the final, but what we didn't expect was team Europe to be in the finals as well. Europe made it to the semi final and played Sweden and won 4-3 in over time on Thomas Tatar's goal. Canada beat team Russia to make it to finals as usual. The finals are best out of three so it may not be a walk in the park for Canada. I'm just going to keep this short so I think Canada is going to win the series 2-0 for SURE. Seriously what's the point of writing these if Canada wins all international hockey stuff? Anyways that's about it and there's only 16 days left until the actual good stuff happens so I'll be more consistent then. Who will win the WCoH? Does Europe stand a chance? Will Canada sweep Europe? stay tuned....

World Cup of Hockey Day 2

Yesterday had Sweden play Russia and team North America play Finland. I didn't watch any of it, but Sweden apparently survived a late surge by Russia and barely survived, but with their amazing defensive core they survived. With team North America they played amazingly especially their studs stepped up. So the current sanding are 1. North America 2. Sweden 3.Russia 4. Finland. Sorry this was short, I had no time to make this post and I don't really need to add a lot into these WCH posts. Can Russia bounce back? Is North America for real? Is Finland out of it? stay tuned....

World Cup of Hockey Day 1

So day one of the round robin tournament is now over and there's plenty to talk about. First off team U.S.A got put into their seat against team Europe losing 3-0. That was the worst possible thing that could have happened as team U.S.A has to play Canada for their next game. Europe controlled the game and U.S.A actually got one goal, but was somehow called off. As for team Europe everyone thought they were going to lose, but they somehow won and now are 1-0 in their group which is group A along with team U.S.A, Canada, and Czech Republic. A few hours later Canada played Czech Republic and murdered them 6-0. Not too much to say here since pretty much everyone thought something like that would happen. I literally stopped watching after one period since they got 3 goals including one with 0.7 seconds to go. So group A standings are 1. Canada 1-0 2. Europe 1-0 3. U.S.A 0-1 4. Czech Republic 0-1. Group B will be playing today and we'll see what happens then. Also every team plays every team in their group at least once. Can team U.S.A bounce back against Canada? Will Czech Republic bounce back against team Europe? What will happened with group B? stay tuned....

Las Vegas Team Name Update #2

It's been about a week since my last post on Las Vegas and we finally got some real information on the team name and the jerseys. First off, the name will be something K-n-i-g-h-t-s. No more Nighthawks or anything cool, but instead it's something Knights which is okay I guess unless they really nail the name because you only get ONE chance to name a team and it has to be done right. The good news is that we know the color scheme which is will have red for sure for Red Rock, but will most likely be black, gold, grey, and red and that has the potential to look really nice. Foley also stated  that the jersey looks like steel mesh that has another color underneath it. I looked at pictures of steel mesh and it made me more confused, but I'm not writing it off. And I take back what I said about Knights, that can be a really cool name with something else and if that's the direction Foley wants to go in, fine by me. Lastly they do have the name picked out already along with the basic logo and the goal is to announce everything in October before the preseason games at T-Mobile Arena. What will the name be? Do you like the color scheme? What will the jerseys look like? stay tuned....

Las Vegas Team Name Update

I know I haven't talked about it at all. but the Las Vegas NHL team is nearing an identity that will most likely be Nighthawks, Desert Hawks, Desert Knights, Golden Knights, and Silver Knights. Owner Bill Foley obviously wants Knights or Night in the name which is fine as long as the name isn't stupid. My personal favorite is Nighthawks since it's one word and it just works with the name Las Vegas. Foley has said that he wants a two word name so it probably won't be Nighthawks unless they make it Night Hawks or just keep it as Nighthawks. Also Foley added fake names to the list of names to throw people off notably Sand Knights, but my theory is that his misdirection ploy could possibly be real. Just a theory. The team said earlier that they hope to have a name set and announced by September, but now they're saying it should be set for October right around the time when the season starts along with the uniforms and logo. Lastly the color scheme is probably going to be black and gold which hopefully works out unlike the horrific 2016 All Star Game Jerseys. What will the name be? Which name do you like he most? Will the name be announced by mid October? stay tuned....

Recent News

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, school has started and I've been busy, but I can still post like normal once the first week is over. Anyways some recent news that has happened is that the Blues have named Alex Pietrangelo which wasn't a surprise since as a defenseman consistently puts up points and has always been a leader or alternate captain. Today the Jets named Blake Wheeler captain today which again wasn't too much of a surprise, but Dustin Byfuglien also had a good chance. Wheeler has always had 25+ goals with the Jets since he was traded to them from the Bruins so he deserves it. Lastly the Flyers have finally revealed their 50th anniversary alternate jersey which has gold around their logo and has golden last names and letters on the back and side of the jersey. Also if you somehow didn't already notice they have a new logo for their 50th anniversary season which most likely will be the center ice design, but you never know. I also don't know if they will wear it on the road or at home, but there could be a chance that they wear it for their home opener. Did the Blues make the right choice? Did the Jets make the right choice? What do you think of the Flyers new alternate jersey? stay tuned....

Stars Sign Jiri Hudler

If you didn't think the Stars were a scoring powerhouse last year that you should now with the new addition of Jiri Hudler. Hudler just signed with the Stars half an hour ago reportedly worth 2 million dollars for 1 year. Seriously the Stars were second best in the league and had Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Jason Spezza, Patrick Sharp, and Ales Hemsky as their core of forwards and if that wasn't already good enough, then add Jiri Hudler who had 16 goals and 30 assists in 72 games. I know it doesn't seem all that good, but the year before that he had 31 goals and 45 assists in a longer season so he's capable of getting a 25-30 goal season especially with the Stars with their amazing core. Was this a good signing? Can Hudler have a better year than last year? Will Hudler get resigned after this year? stay tuned....

New York Rangers Season Preview

The New York Rangers finally ended the Jimmy Vesey talk by signing the collage star to a two year contract worth $925,000. Vesey can definitely improve the Rangers' offense by playing on the first or second line. Another move the Rangers made was trading Derrek Brassard to the Senators for Miki Zibanejad which gives the Rangers some more young talent on the team, but Brassard was older and had more NHL experience like deep playoff runs so we'll just have to see how the trade works out. The Rangers also added some depth during free agency, but overall the roster is pretty much the same so who knows how the season will go out. You should expect the Rangers to make the playoffs, but probably not be as competitive in the regular season and probably the playoffs, but with all the changes they made it could go either way even though some important part of the roster is aging. Will all their changes have a big affect on their season? Will they have a bounce back season? Will the Rangers make anymore moves this offseason? stay tuned....

New York Islanders Season Preview

First off I'm sorry for not posting for about 2 weeks, pretty much nothing has really happened at all so I haven't been able to bring myself to post something. Good news is that the World Cup of Hockey is starting next month so I'll most likely be writing about it. The Islanders are coming off a pretty good playoff run that ended in the second round to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 5 games, but that was the first time making it past the first round since 1993 so it wasn't all bad. The Islanders lost Matt Martin in free agency which isn't going to have that much of an impact on their season. The Islanders added Jason Chimera who will be a nice boost to their offense and can be a 2nd or 3rd line center. P.A Parenteau signed with the Islanders and will play for the Islanders for the second time, also he had his best year yet last year with the Maple Leafs with 20 goals and 21 assists. The best player to join the Islanders this offseason is Andrew Ladd the former Jets captain who is a two time Stanley Cup champion. He is a proven leader and can definitely be a first liner for the Islanders. You should expect the Islanders to have a good year, but the Metropolitan division should be stronger than usual so it should definitely be harder to get a division spot. Will all their new additions have as big of an impact as expected? Will the Islanders be affected by Matt Martin leaving the team? Are the Islanders going to be Stanley Cup contenders? stay tuned....

Los Angeles Kings Season Preview

The Kings had a really disappointing playoff run that had them lose to the Sharks in 5 games in their return to the playoffs. The Kings are looking to get that Stanley Cup mindset again, since their 2014 Stanley Cup win the Kings have missed the playoffs once and lost in the first round of the playoffs so obviously some changes had to be made. The Kings finally stripped Dustin Brown of his captaincy and gave it to Anze Kopitar, and that change seemed almost necessary since Brown has had no offense in the last two years and Kopitar has been the Kings best forward for sure. I aleady wrote about it so if you want to check it out, click here http://nhlbaffle.blogspot.com/2016/06/kopitar-new-kings-captain.html . They also signed Teddy Purcell this off season which should be a nice boost for offense, but he shouldn't have too much of an impact. The worst thing that happened this offseason was losing Milian Lucic since he was a tough guy who could protect their stars and score goals so that should have an impact on them this year for sure, but Teddy Purcell can score like Lucic so it isn't all that bad. You should really keep an open mind for the Kings this year since the roster is pretty much the same so you should really expect anything out of these guys. Will Teddy Purcell have a big impact on the Kings this year? Will the Kings make the playoffs again? Will they make any more changes this off season? stay tuned....

Ottawa Senators Season Preview

The Senators had a disappointing year last year because they didn't make the playoffs and did not even make it to 40 wins, and that could change. The Senators made a trade a few weeks ago that sent Mika Zibanejad to the Rangers for Derrek Brassard, and that trade shows that the Senators really want to win now. Zibanejad is 23 and was selected 6th overall in 2011 and really had potential as he scored 21 goals last year, but Brassard 27 goals while he was 28 last year. Brassard is in his prime while Zibanejad was still young so the Senators FOR NOW win the trade. Everything else is the same since their roster is pretty much the exact same, and their goalies are also the exact same form last year so there's nothing new to report on that. You should expect the Senators to be more competitive than last year and to really make a push for the playoffs. Who won the trade? Will they make the playoffs? Will they make any more moves this offseason? stay tuned....

St. Louis Blues Season Preview

Make sure to check out my other season previews below this post! The Blues were within two wins of the Stanley Cup Final last year , but getting further than that this year is going to be harder than before. The Blues have lost Steve Ott, Anders Nilsson, Brian Elliot, Troy Brouwer, and David Backes this offseason and have added David Perron and Carter Hutton. Hutton will be the backup for Jake Allen since Brian Elliot is now gone and Perron will most likely be on the second line for the Blues since he can get points somewhat consistently. That being said the Blues traded their former starter which means they either have more trust in Jake Allen or Elliot is getting older who knows, but their goal tending should be a bit weaker than last year plus Brian Elliot was the league leading save percentage guy.  David Backes was the Blues captain since 2011 and is now gone which will hurt their play undoubtedly. He was their second leading scorer with 21 goals and Troy Brouwer who is also leaving was number 3 with 18 goals. Both of these departures will require someone to step up and score more. Troy Brouwer was the tough guy who can score goals and he definitely leaves the toughness spot open. Aside from all their losses they still have great players like Vladimir Tarasenko, Robbi Fabbri, Alexander Steen, Alex Pietrangelo, and Jake Allen, but they really need more depth players who can score for them. This season you expect it to be good enough to make the playoffs, but the actual playoffs may have them be taken out early unless they acquire someone else or all their young players step up. How big of and impact will these losses have on their play this year? Will their young players step up for the team? Will they make any more moves this offseason? stay tuned....

Tampa Bay Lightning Season Preview

Before you read this make sure you check out my Capitals season preview below and all the others I did 2 weeks ago. The Lightning have done amazing this offseason by signing Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman to 8 year deals and Alex Killorn to a 7 year deal. They know they're a competitive team so they keep resigning key pieces to the puzzle that had big roles for the team. They need to sign Nikita Kucherov since his contract has expired and he is a restricted free agent now. The Lightning now have 6.6 million dollars left to sign Kucherov and anyone else that needs to be signed and a trade or two could be happening sooner or later who knows. The Lightning have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals and to game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals in the past two years and are so close to finally getting the Stanley Cup. The regular season should be better than last year as their players only get better, and they should have a good chance at winning the Stanley Cup. Their main focus this year is going to be the Stanley Cup and that's it. They have plenty of years left to do it so it really could happen this year. Is this finally the year? Will they make any trades to free up cap space? Will they be better than last year? stay tuned....

Washington Capitals Season Preview

First of all I'm sorry for not posting in a week or two, I just recently got back from vacation and I will start getting back into the routine. For a real explanation check out my offseason update post which explains everything. Anyways the Capitals have not really changed their roster this offseason, but the added on Lars Eller during the draft and he should be a good 3rd line or 4th line center for the Caps. Their new center core is Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Lars Eller, and Marcus Johansson, and that should be pretty solid this year. The Caps should be competitive once again, but in the playoffs if they make it they NEED to get past the second round. The Capitals every year it seems like have lost in the first or second round and this year they are looking to take the next step towards their goal of a Stanley Cup. The regular season should be just fine, but the playoffs are the main focus this year. Can the Capitals make it past round 2? Will they make any more moves this offseason? Is this finally the year? stay tuned....

Calgary Flames Season Preview

The Flames improved their roster for sure this offseason by acquiring, signing, or drafting Troy Brouwer, Brian Elliot, and Matthew Tkachuk this offseason so far. Troy Brouwer can score, lay out big hits, and bring leader-ship to the Flames since he's won a Stanley Cup and been in crazy playoffs series h will for sure improve the team. Brian Elliot finally solves their goalie problems that they've had for a while and can maybe provide veteran leader-ship to the young Flames. Matthew Tkachuk was drafted 6th overall this year and will be a nice addition to the team this year. The Flames are still a very young roster that has everything a team really needs, so maybe they can bounce back from last year and make the playoffs like 2015. You should expect improvement from the whole team, and maybe even the playoffs this year or in upcoming years. Also check out my Oilers and Blackhawks season previews below this post! Will the Flames improve this year? Can they make the playoffs? Will they make any more moves this offseason? stay tuned....

Edmonton Oilers Season Preview

The Oilers this season should be an improvement for sure especially the defense with Adam Larsson joining the team, but that means the offense should be a little weaker with Taylor Hall leaving the team. The Oilers were in need for a top two defenseman, but only got a top four which can still do them good. Adam Larsson is more of a defensive defenseman who is still young and can still improve. On the other hand the Oilers lost Taylor Hall who was a huge part of their offense and played with Connor McDavid and he is supposed to have a great season, but it could be not as good with Hall gone. Not to mention Milian Lucic who just joined the Oilers and he can score 30 goals a year and defend young stars like Connor McDavid with a fight or a big hit. Overall it should be an improvement, but still basically the same unless someone really steps up for the Oilers and leads them to victory and maybe even a playoff spot, who knows. Will Connor McDavid have a good season? Will they make the playoffs? Are they going to make any more moves this offseason? stay tuned.... Also make sure to check out my Blackhawks season preview right below this post!

Chicago Blackhawks Season Preview

The Blackhawks have once again lost key pieces of their roster and will once again have to adjust and regroup for the season. They have lost Andrew Shaw, Andrew Ladd, Bryan Bickell, Teuvo Travainen, Dale Weise, and Tomas Fleischmann this offseason and currently don't look so good. Their Panarin-Anisimov-Kane line will remain, but with Ladd leaving the team that once again puts a hole in the first line left wing spot. The defense should improve this year with former Blackhawk Brian Campbell rejoining the team, but it most likely will be weaker like last year. Overall the Blackhawks will be hungry to take back their title, but will have to work harder than before to get it. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are still in their prime so they should be good to go for a few more years before they start to drop. Will the Blackhawks make the playoffs? Will they be worse than last year? Will any more changes be happening? stay tuned.... P.S I will be doing more of these short season previews for other teams soon.

Off Season Update

So the draft and the free agent frenzy is over and we are now entering the "dead zone" of the NHL offseason. Not too much is going to happen for a while which means I will not be ale to post often during this time, but stuff will still happen during the off season that I will cover. When there isn't anything going on I will probably do season previews for some teams and or just talk about a specific team. So basically what I'm saying is be patient and news will hopefully come out so I can cover it. Just note that I will be out of town once again, but this time during July 20th-26th and if you're wondering I'm going to Los Angles. So hopefully something will happen soon and I will be on top of it within that very day so lets hope for news. Will more trades happen? Will there be any more major free agent signings? Who will win the 2016-2017 Stanley Cup? stay tuned....

Free Agency

So I am going on a weekend trip and most likely won't be able to post anything :( That being said it is free agency and I will review what I missed when I get back. I heard that Lucic signed with the Oilers with a 7 year 6 million dollar contract. David Perron signed with the Blues for a two year 7.75 million contract, Frans Nielson signed with the Red Wings for 6 years and 31.5 million dollars. James Reimer signed with the Panthers for 5 years for 17 million dollars in total, Loui Eriksson signed a 6 year contract with the Canucks and the money has not been revealed yet. Aaron Ekblad resigned with the Panthers for 8 years for 60 million dollars in total. David Backes signed a contract with the Bruins that has 5 years on it for 30 million dollars. Kyle Okposo signed a 7 year contract with the Sabres that's worth 42 million dollars. Brian Cambell signed a 1 year 2 million contract with the Blackhawks. Anyways Brouwer just signed with the Calgary Flames with a 4 years 18 million dollar contract. Eric Staal has signed with the Wild with a 3 year 10.5 million dollar contract, and those are some of the bug names that have been moved on day one. I will be back on Sunday or Monday so I will pick up anything I missed. Are these signings going to have a big impact on the teams? How much more is to come? Will there be any trades? stay tuned....

Insane Trades and Stamkos gets Resigned

What the heck just happened???? I'm coming home and check my phone to see that Steven Stamkos signs an 8 year 8.5 million deal with the Lightning, the Oilers trade Taylor Hall to the Devils for Adam Larsson, and the Predators traded Shea Weber (their captain) to the Canadiens for P.K. Subban. First off Stamkos got resigned which is a huge disappointment for everyone except Lightning fans. I mean who really wanted to see Stamkos playing somewhere else? Anyways, this is amazing for Steven Stamkos and the Lightning since they can still be Stanley Cup contenders, but that means they have to make some trades to stay under the salary cap. Now the Hall trade was insanely bad since he is a former first overall pick and he was a great left wing, and they wanted a top two defenseman, but got a top four defenseman Adam Larsson. This is weird since Larsson was good defensively, but he doesn't seem to be equal value to Hall and the Oilers really could've done better with this. The big trade with Subban and Weber is an amazing deal for the Predators for sure. They now have Subban along with Roman Josi, Mattias Ekholm, and Ryan Ellis which is arguably one of the best defense in the league. It also works out well for the Preds wince Subban is 27 and in his prime and he should be a nice boost for the Predators to take that final step to the Finals. For Montreal, this can help for a little bit, but Weber is 31 and is close to the age where he starts to decline. This isn't too bad for Montreal, but their defense isn't too well (which was proven when Carey Price was injured) and kind of old so their defense can hold on for now as long as they have Carey Price who is still their best defensive player by far. All of these trades were one on one which doesn't happen too much and were 20-30 minutes apart. Also with Stamkos resigned that really ruins some team's plans. Who won these trades? Was the Stamkos contract fair? Will these trades have a big impact on the team's future? stay tuned....

NHL Draft Day 2 and Steven Stamkos

Day 2 of the draft had super minor trades that are not worth talking about and just more picks. There are now 211 more people that have joined the NHL, but only a few will actually be able to play in it this year. Sorry this post is short, but there's literally nothing good for me to talk about. On July 1st free agency starts and it seems like Steven Stamkos will not be returning to the Lighting. Also when Detroit traded Datsyuk's contract away, it surely meant that they're clearing up Cap Space so they can sign Steven Stamkos. That's about all I can give you guys. My next post should be when a free agent is signed so stay tuned....

NHL Draft Day 1 and Round 1

The first round and first day of the draft is done and not too many trades happened either. First off the Leafs selected Auston Matthews first overall which was no surprise, and he is the first American born player since Patrick Kane in 2007 to be picked first overall. Then right after that the Canadiens made two trades which had Lars Eller go to Washington for a 2017 and 2018 second round pick. They also got Andrew Shaw from the Blackhawks in exchange for the 30th and 45th overall picks for this year. Only 3 other trades happened after this so I'll just tell you guys now. The Blues traded Brian Elliot to Calgary for the 35th overall pick in this year's draft and a conditional 2018 3rd round pick. The Red Wings traded their 16th overall pick and Pave Datsyuk's contract to the Coyotes for their 20th overall pick, the 53rd overall pick, and forward Joe Vitale. The Last trade had the Devils trade their 11overall pick to the Senators for the 12th overall and the 80th overall. Anyways the Jets picked Patrik Laine 2nd overall which was no surprise, but the Blue Jackets surprisingly picked Pierre-Luc Dubois instead of Jesse Puljujarvi so the Oilers took him for the 4th overall pick. The Canucks picked 5th overall, Olli Juolevi ho will be a great skillful player for the Canucks. If you want to read about ALL the picks from last night, click the link here https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-draft-picks-live-tracker/c-281037406 . Side note: This was the best draft for Americans since 12 of them got picked in the first round, and those people were Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, Logan Brown, Charles McAvoy, Luke Kunin, Jakob Chychrun, Kieffer Bellows, Max Jones, Riley Tufte, Tage Thompson, and Trent Frederic. Will any more trades happen? Will there be any surprises in day 2? Will these players become what they're expected to be? stay tuned....

Las Vegas Awarded NHL Franchise

There will be an NHL team in Las Vegas by the 2017-2018. There will be an expansion draft next year in 2017 when the expansion teams gets to pick 1 player from all 30 NHL teams. Those teams will be able to either protect 7 forwards, 3 defenseman, and 1 goalie or 8 skaters and one goalie. Plus all first year and second year professionals are safe from the draft ad will stay on their current teams. The expansion team has to have 14 forwards, 9 defenseman, and 3 goalie by the end of the draft. They will also have the same chance of winning at the draft lottery as the team who finished third to last in the standings. That is just a basic look at everything so if you want more info on it click on the link here http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/las-vegas-joins-nhl--here-are-the-2017-expansion-draft-rules-210738727.html Overall this is a great thing for the NHL as Las Vegas is a major city and has a great potential and should be really competitive in their first year. The jersey and logo has not been decided as well as the coaching staff and everyone else who works for the team. Also the team will be playing in an arena called T-Mobile Arena which is a big modern arena in Las Vegas.
Will the team be competitive? What will their roster look like? Will this whole process work out? stay tuned....

Frederik Andersen Traded to the Maple Leafs

Former Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen has been traded to the Maple Leafs which solves their goalie issues for sure. The price of this was the 2016 30th overall pick they got from the Kessel trade with the Penguins and a 2017 second round pick. Right after the trade the Leafs signed him to a 5 year contract. That was especially smart because he would have been a restricted free agent starting on July first. Andersen is 26 years old and isn't even in his prime yet, (prime is when you're in your best years usually when you're 28-30).  He was 22-9-7 this season with the Ducks and is a true playoff performer and always picked up the Ducks when John Gibson wasn't doing so well. When the Ducks decided to trade Andersen it clearly meant that John Gibson as going to be the new starting goalie for the Ducks, and that they preferred him over Andersen. This means that Jonathan Bernier will probably be the backup for the Maple Leafs or they could use Garret Sparks who played well in his only games with the Maple Leafs. This was an ok trade for the Ducks, they now have two first round picks in the draft (24th and 30th), but for next season it's not going to have that much of an effect except when John Gibson doesn't play well, then the would need a good backup. This was a good trade for the Leafs and they continue to rebuild and plan for the future well. Who won the trade? Will Andersen play well for the Leafs? Will Gibson be able to be a good starting goalie for the Ducks? stay tuned....

Pavel Datsyuk Leaves NHL

Pavel Datsyuk met with the Red Wings on Saturday to inform that he will not be playing for the Red Wings or the NHL anymore. He is going to be returning home in Russia to play the rest of his career out. One big reason for this decision is his daughter and the rest of his family who lives in Russia. Datsyuk was one of the best Red Wings to ever play and helped the Wings to two Stanley Cup Championships in 2002 and 2008. He also invented the Datsyukian deke which is when you cut one way and shoot the puck on the open net. Check it out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5dJWXTswzI His amazing hands were just incredible and got him 314 goals, 64 assists, and 918 points. He also won the Lady Byng trophy 4 times and the Selke Trophy three times. He did all of this as a sixth round pick which rarely happens to players so it just adds to his brilliance. One problem he left for the Red Wings is his 7.5 million dollar contract. He has one more year on that deal so the Wings should try to trade it away. The even worse new for the Wings is the hole in the line up now.  Datsyuk could really do everything except goaltending in the NHL and the Red Wings will somehow have to play around all of that next year unless a trade happens. Will the Red Wings trade away his contract? Can they make the playoffs for the 26th year in a row without Datsyuk? Will Datsyuk continue to play hockey in Russia? stay tuned....

Kopitar New Kings Captain

When Dustin Brown was stripped of his captaincy in May, we knew it would most likely be Anze Kopitar. And it is. Kopitar has been one of the best King players for a while, while Dustin Brown has struggled in the past few seasons. Kopitar has replaced Brown who has been captain since 2008 and he is in his prime and has been more of a leader than Brown. Kopitar had 25 goals and 74 points last season while Brown only had 11 goals and 28 points in 82 games as the King's captain which is his worst year in points since his rookie year. Kopitar seems like the perfect fit to be captain especially since he'll be staying a King for at least 8 more years as Dustin Brown is in his early 30's now and clearly won't be getting any younger. Was this a good choice? How will Kopitar do as captain? Will Brown get his game back? stay tuned....

Penguins Run to the Stanley Cup

The Penguins had a crazy year that ended up with a Stanley Cup and it couldn't have ended up any better. They had to go through the Rangers, Capitals, Lightning and Sharks to win it all. For the first two games of the first round against the Rangers, Jeff Zatkoff started the game as a backup for the Penguins and won game one, but lost game 2. In game 3 rookie Matt Murray who has basically no NHL experience started for the Pens and only allowed one goal that game. In game 4 Murray got his first NHL shutout in a 5-0 win with 31 saves. The Penguins ended that series at home in game 5 when they won 6-3. The Rangers in that series looked totally unprepared, but the Penguins came ready to play at the very get go. For round 2 the Pens had to play the Presidents Trophy winner Washington Capitals which proved to be not as bad as expected. This was also Eric Fehr's former team so it was obviously special to play them. Game one was a 4-3 overtime loss with Capital's forward T.J Oshie getting a hat trick. Game 2 was a close game, but a win for the Penguins with a score of 2-1. Game 3 was a home game for the Pens while the series was tied so it was important to win at least one of the two games at home. Murray faced 49 shots while only allowing 2 goals while the Penguins had less, so he really stole game 5 form the Capitals. Game 4 was a close one that had the Penguins taking it 3-2 in another overtime. The Capitals were facing elimination at this point so they played really hard in game 5 and emerged victorious with a 3-1 win. Game 6 was a memorable one that had to Penguins win 4-3 in overtime on Nick Bonino's memorable overtime goal. That series really boosted the confidence for the Pens for they took out their rival Capitals once again in the second round. Now the Penguins had to play the former Eastern Conference champion the Tamp Bay Lightning. Game one was a 3-1 loss, game 2 was a 3-2 win, game 3 was a 4-2 win, game 4 was a 4-3 loss, game 5 was a 4-3 loss in overtime, and game 6 had the Penguins facing elimination for the first time this year, but the came out on top 5-2. Game 7 was a do or die for the Penguins and they won 2-1 with Bryan Rust scoring the only two goals for Pittsburgh. The Penguins would have to take the final test against the San Jose Sharks who miraculously made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Game one was up and down, but had Nick Bonino give the Penguins a 3-2 lead late into the game. Game 2 was all Penguins with Conor Sheary winning the game in overtime. Game 3 proved that the series was far from over when the Penguins lost 3-2 in overtime and instantly gave the Sharks the momentum going into game 4. Game 4 was the Penguins once again winning the game, but this time it was 3-1 in San Jose. Game 5 gave the Penguins the chance to win the Stanley Cup at home for the first time in their history, but Sharks goalie Martin Jones made 44 saves and prevented the Pens from winning it at home. 4-2 was the final score. Game 6 was close, but had Brian Dumoulin, Kris Letang, and Patric Hornqvist all score goals in the finals game of the 2015-2016 NHL season. Through all of this Sidney Crosby won the Conn Smyth trophy and everyone in Pittsburgh can now celebrate with the Stanley Cup. Did Crosby deserve the Conn Smyth? Are the Penguins going to repeat as champions? Is this the beginning of a dynasty? stay tuned....

Penguins Win Stanley Cup

THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS HAVE WON THE 2016 STANLEY CUP. They beat the Sharks 3-1 in San Jose and have won their first Stanley Cup since 2009. Sidney Crosby surprisingly won the Conn Smyth trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs. He also passed the Stanley Cup to Trevor Daley who broke his ankle during the playoffs and he passed it to Pascal Dupuis who had a blood clot that ended his career during the season. For the Sharks, they have made an amazing run to the Finals that ended 2 games away to the Stanley Cup. 18 year Sharks Patrick Marleau sadly did not win the Cup and this could be his only chance to win the Stanley Cup unless he plays somewhere else in the future or wins it here in San Jose. Brian Dumoulin, Kris Letang, and Patric Hornqvist were the scorer for the Penguins with Hornqvist's being the empty netter. Logan Couture was the only one who scored for the Sharks this game. The Penguins will be having their Stanley Cup, parade soon and the Sharks will just have to hit the golf course. I will be putting out more info tomorrow in my Penguins season review that should come out tomorrow morning. Could the Sharks have won the game? Did Sidney Crosby deserve the Conn Smyth? Will the Penguins win it next year again? stay tuned....

Stanley Cup Finals Game 5

It ain't over till *** *** **** *****. The Sharks beat the Penguins 4-2 at Pittsburgh and got their first lead of the series in the first 2 minutes. There were 4 goals in the first 5:06 which is a new NHL record. This game the Sharks' super stars finally came to play. Brent Burns scored 1 minute and 4 seconds into the game when he had the puck behind the net and skated out to the bottom of the left circle and turned and fired it in. Matt Murray went down way to early on the shot which is why Burns was able to score that specific shot. Logan Couture got the next one 2 minutes and 53 seconds in when he deflected Justin Braun's shot from the point in front of Matt Murray. Evgeni Malkin scored 4 minutes and 44 second in when Phil Kessel passed it to him from the other side of the ice and Malkin from the bottom of the right circle shot it at the net, but it deflected off of Justin Braun's skate and went in. Carl Hagelin tied it up when Nick Bonino got the puck and shot it from the top of the left circle and Hagelin deflected it in. Melker Karlsson gave the Sharks the lead again when he got the puck in between the two circle and snapped the puck that hit Murray's glove and went in. This was all in the first period which was the only period with goals except for Joe Pavelski's empty netter and the end of the game. Overall the game was close because of Martin Jones which he stopped 44 shots and Murray stopped 19. Game 6 is in San Jose on Sunday at 8 PM ET. Will Murray start game 6? Can the Sharks force a game 7? Will Martin Jones continue to play like this? stay tuned...

Stanley Cup Finals Game 4

The Penguins are now one win away from winning it all after beating the Sharks 3-1 in San Jose. The Sharks have to step it up in order to keep this thing alive and get more offense. Ian Cole got the first one when he got the rebound off of Kessel's shot and snapped it in the net. Evgeni Malkin got his first of the series when Kessel's hard pass to him who was at the side of the net hit Justin Braun and then himself and went in. Melker Karlsson got the Sharks within one when a rebound got hit to him and he tucked it in the net with a wrist shot. Eric Fehr scored with 2:02 to go in the third when he got a pass from Hegelin while skating in the zone and he got in between the circles and fired it home. That would be it as the Penguins won 3-1 and have 3-1 series lead with a chance to clinch t home in front of their fans. The Sharks need more offence as they have only 7 goals in 4 game which just isn't enough for more than one win. Once again Martin Jones played amazingly with no support, and Mat Murray played amazingly as well and got offensive support. Can the Sharks get more offense? Can the Penguins clinch the cup in game 5? Can the Sharks keep their season alive? stay tuned....

Stanley Cup Finals Game 3

The Sharks have saved themselves from being down 3-0 when they beat the Penguins 3-2 in overtime in their first Stanley Cup Finals home game and their first win in the series. The Penguins struck first when Ben Lovejoy got the puck and slapped it from the point while the puck was on edge so it was dipping while it was in the air. The Sharks tied it up when Justin Braun used his amazing wrist shot from the point and it went in without Matt Murray even seeing it. Braun at this point continues to be the only offense for the Sharks. Patric Hornqvist gave the Penguins the lead when Ben Lovejoy shot in from the point and he tipped it in. Joel Ward tied it about halfway through the third period when he slapped it from the point on a 3 on 2 rush. Towards the end both teams came really close to getting the lead, but it went to over time instead. Joonas Donskoi won it with 7:42 left in the third when he got the puck behind the net and skated it to the bottom of the left circle and turned around and shot it top shelf. The Sharks were once again outshot badly, but this time it was 42-26, but Martin Jones continues to play amazingly and the Sharks this game finally supported him with offence. Game 4 is on June 6th at 8 PM ET which could be the biggest game of the series since the Penguins can take a 3-1 series lead or the Sharks can tie the series at 2. The game will be played at San Jose. Will the Sharks continue to get this offence? Can Martin Jones continue to play well? Who will take game 4? stay tuned....

Panthers New Uniforms

The Florida Panthers have showed off their new uniforms and they look better than I expected. The home uniforms is red that has a white stripe that's outlined with gold running through it. The alternated logo is a panther on top of a modified version of the state flag. The new logo on the home jersey says 'Panthers' is has a panthers sticking it's head to the left side. The road uniforms has the same logo except it says Florida. The logo overall looks like a soccer logo, but it looks nice with the uniforms themselves.  The road uniforms are mainly white and have a red stripe that's outlined with gold running across it. On both jerseys they have the players' number on it and the numbers and name on the back on the home is white with a gold outline, and on the road is blue with a gold outline. This is a totally different look for the Panthers and isn't all that bad. Maybe in the future they'll release an alternate uniform that can be used as well at home games. What do you think of the uniforms? Will the Panthers keep these? Will they do good in the new uniforms? stay tuned....

Stanley Cup Finals Game 2

Game 2 was yet another Penguins win, but this time it was in overtime on Conor Sheary's goal. The first period was scoreless, but had a lot of close chances in it. The second period had the Penguins strike first when Phil Kessel scored on a pass from Nick Bonino across the goal with Roman Polak trying to block the pass. The game was played close in the third period, but once again a late goal was scored and his time it was for the Sharks. Justin Braun tied it with a slap shot that hit the post and went in from the top of the circle, and all this happened with 4:05 to go in the third. Conor Sheary won it when Crosby won the faceoff to Letang who passed it to him and he shot it home. The Penguins keep finding ways to win and will now have a chance to make it 3-0 in the series with a win in San Jose. The Sharks have only 3 goals in the two game s so far and need to get more sustained offence. Martin Jones has played amazingly for the Sharks since the Penguins have badly out shot the Sharks every game. Matt Murray has been playing amazingly as well since he only allowed 3 goals this series. Game 3 is on June 4th and will be on at 8PM ET. Can the Sharks get some offence? Can the Penguins keep up the amazing play? Who will take game 3? stay tuned....
