Final Day 5

Home ice....home ice is the answer to this series. The only time a team has won in this series is on home ice. The Penguins whooped the Predators 60 in Pittsburgh to take a 3-2 series lead. The game started out horribly for Pekka Rinne who allowed 3 goals in the 1st with one being 90 seconds into the game. He was pulled after that, but it didn't hep at all because the Penguins got 3 more in the 2nd. Justin Schultz got the game winner with the first goal of the game. Clearly the Predators can't win away from Nashville and if the Predators force a game 7, that will be a problem. Game 6 will be in Nashville where the Predators have been amazing all year and that will come to the test as game 6 is a must win. The Penguins are just hoping to clinch their seconds straight Stanley Cup. Should the Predators start Rinne? Can the Predators force a game 7? Who will win game 6? stay tuned....

Final Day 4

Tie series. We have a tie series in the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. With a score of 4-1 the Predators have tied the series heading back to Pittsburgh. The Predators played really well at the start and it took 15 minutes to make it 1 nothing even though the Penguins challenged the goal. About a minute later the game was tied up and stayed tied going into the 2nd period. This next goal for the Predators was a weird one due to the fact that they scored and everyone kept playing until the horn went off which let the refs review and they determined that the puck was clearly in the goal. This was a ball buster for the Penguins who were starting to find their game at that point. That goal was the game winner. A nice passing play led to a breakaway that was buried into the net to make it 3-1 at the end of the 2nd period. The 3rd period was pretty even, but the Predators continued to dominate the puck and they forced the Penguins to pull their goalie which caused and empty netter. Frederick Gaudreau got the game winner in the 2nd with that weird delayed goal. Pekka Rinne had another great game while Matt Murray had another bad game or the Penguins played bad. The crowd was crazy as usual which continues to push the Predators forward. Game 5 is in Pittsburgh where the winner have the chance to win the Stanley Cup in Nashville for game 6. Can Pekka Rinne continue to play like this? Who will start for the Penguins in game 5? Who will win game 5? stay tuned....

Final Day 3

The first Stanley Cup Final game in Nashville was a successful one for the Predators as they beat the Penguins 5-1. 3 minutes into the game the Penguins scored and you guessed it, Jake Guentzel. The Predators had some good chances after that, but could not convert so the score remained 1-0 until 5 minutes into the 2nd the Predators got one and another one almost a minute later. They got another one late in the 2nd to make it 3-1.The Predators got 2 more in the 2nd and it was the end of a horrible game for the Penguins, plus Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malking went shotless the whole game. Frederick Gaudreau got the game winner in the 1st period. Pekka Rinne had a bounce back game for sure after 2 horrible performances in games 1 and 2 and P.K Subban made a bold statement saying that the Predators will will win game 3 before so he was spot on. Game 4 is in Nashville again where the Penguins will look to take a 3-1 lead and the Predators will look to tie the series at 2 making it a best of 3 series. Can the Predators contain Jake Guentzel? Will the Predators keep the momentum? Can Pekka Rinne have another good game? stay tuned....

Final Day 2

This has been one weird series for sure. First we have a winning team go almost 2 period without a shot and win to 3 goals in the first 3:20. The Penguins are now 2 wins away from the Stanley Cup because they beat the Predators 4-1. The first period was a very close one that ended up tied and the 2nd was scoreless. Then 10 seconds into the 3rd Jake Guentzel got his second of the game which makes Predators fans want to strangle him. Scott Wilson and Evgeni Malkin scored shortly after to make it 4-1. The Penguins made it 5-1, but it got called back and I just quit on the game at this point so I don't know why, but it didn't matter because they won anyways being out shot 38-27. Jake Guentzel got the game winning goal in case you couldn't tell. Game 3 is in Nashville on June 3rd where the Predators are basically in a must win game. How do the Penguins always find ways to win? Can the Predators contain the Penguins' offense? stay tuned....

Final Day 1

Well.....that's a way to start a series I guess. The Penguins somehow won game 1 5-3 despite going 37 minutes without a freaking shot on goal. The start of the game was dominant for the Predators and they even got a goal, but of course there was a coach's challenge for an offside and of course they goal was called back. Then the Penguins got 2 goals in a span of 1:05. The Penguins also made it 3-0 when the puck bounced off of Ekholm and into the net. The 2nd period was absolutely dominant for the Predators, but they only got 1 goal to make it 3-1. About halfway through the 3rd the Predators got 1 more then 3 minutes later they got another one so it was all tied up. Jake Guentzel got the first Penguins shot for 37 minutes and scored on swiss cheese Pekka Rinne. An empty net goal made it 5-3. We learned that this will be a close series, but the Penguins need to improve because they got lucky this time. Game 2 is on Wednesday where the Predators will look to get the split in Pittsburgh and take it back 1-1 in Nashville. Can the Predators bounce back? Can the Penguins have a better game? Who will win game 2? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 40

THE PITTSBURGH PENGUIN ARE GOING TO THEIR 2ND STRAIGHT STANLEY CUP FINAL. In thrilling fashion too. The Penguins and Senators went to double overtime in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals with a final score of 3-2. The 1st period was scoreless, but the scoring for both teams started in the 2nd. The Penguins scored about halfway through the period, but 20 seconds later the Senators tied it up. In the 3rd the Penguins scored with about 8 minutes left, but about 3 minutes later the Senators scored to tie it up and send the game to overtime. The Penguins had so many chances in overtime and looked to score a goal, bur the puck was on top of the net and fans didn't realize that so a couple of them threw their playoff towels on the ice. The Second overtime was about 5 minutes long because Chris Kunitz got his 2nd goal of the game on a one timer to send the Penguins to the finals. As for the Senators, they played really well and have a great story to tell. Changes will have to be made to be a better equipped Stanley Cup team like their uniforms which might be changing to their alternates for a home and a white version for away. 11 other teams will also be getting uniform changes so that's something to look forward to. The Penguins and Predators final will be a good one and it will be either a repeat champions or an entirely new champion. Could the Penguins have prevented the game from going to double overtime? Could the Senators have won the series? Who will win the Stanley Cup? stay tuned,,,,

Playoffs Day 39

Game 7. There will be a game 7 for the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals. The Senators beat the Penguins 2-1 in Ottawa to force a game 7 in Pittsburgh. The 1st period had no goals, but the 2nd period is where things got interesting. The Penguins scored what seemingly looked like a good goal, but it got called off due to goalie interference. The Penguins scored after that though, but the Senators tied t up so it went into the 3rd all tied up. Mike Hoffman laid and absolute bomb of a shot of Matt Murray that went off the post and in to give the Senators a 2-1 lead and they held on for the victory on home ice. Both teams played really well this game so game 7 seems like it'll be a flipped coin to see who wins. The winner of game 7 will play the Predators in the Stanley Cup Final. Should the Penguins' goal have been waved off? Can the Senators keep getting at least some offense? Who will win game 7? stay tuned....

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

Playoffs Day 38

THE NASHVILLE PREDATORS ARE GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP FINAL. The Predators beat the Ducks who had Jonathan Bernier starting in net 6-3. The Predators scored twice in the 1st, but the Ducks got 1 back in the 2nd. They got 4 goals in the 3rd with 2 empty netters while the Ducks got half of that, but the game was tied up for a little bit after the Ducks 2 goals. Colton Sissions got the game winner to complete his hat trick, but the fans didn't realize it till later so they threw all the hats and stuff on the ice during commercial. This is the Predators' 1st Stanley Cup Final appearance in franchise history and they should be proud. They of course would not touch the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl due to superstition. They will be playing the winner of the Penguins Senators series so the final this year is guaranteed to be a good one. For the Ducks this is a huge disappointment and they had the expectation of the Stanley Cup or bust and at the moment they seem like a bust. It would also sting for the Ducks because they out shot the Predators 41-18 so it could have been Bernier's fault. Was it Bernier's fault? Who will the Predators play in the SCF? Can the Predators win the Stanley Cup? stay tuned....

Monday, May 22, 2017

Playoffs Day 37

The Penguins and Senators played game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals where the winner will be 1 win away from the Stanley Cup Finals. The Penguins rose up to the occasion and beat the Senators 7-0. 4 goals where scored in the 1st, 1 in the 2nd, and 2 in the 3rd. 7 different players got goals, but Olli Maata's goal in the 1st was the game winner because it was the 1st goal and the Senators couldn't even score 1. This game seemed to be a role reversal of game 3 where the Senators killed the Penguin 5-0 so this has been one of the weirdest series of the playoffs so far. Game 6 is in Ottawa where the Senators look to force a game 7 while the Penguins look to clinch their 2nd consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup Final. Can the Penguins clinch? Will the Senators get their offense back? Who will win game 6? stay tuned....

Sunday, May 21, 2017

Playoffs Day 36

A crucial game 5 of the Western Conference Finals was in Anaheim where the Predators beat the Ducks 3-1 to take a 3-2 series lead and are now 1 win away from the Stanley Cup Final. They did this without Ryan Johansen and their captain Mike Fisher. The 1st period was dominated by the Ducks, but it was scoreless. The Ducks got their break in the 2nd, but Jonathan Bernier their backup had to play because John Gibson got hurt in the 1st, but they scored first anyways, but the Predators scored 7 minutes later so it was tied going into the 3rd. The Predators took the lead in the 3rd with Pontus Aberg's eventual game winning goal and got an empty netter to seal the deal. The Predators will look to clinch their 1st birth to the Stanley Cup Finals in Nashville for game 6 while the Ducks will look to force a game 7. Will Gibson be back for game 6? Can the Predators clinch with Johansen and Fisher? Who will win game 6? stay tuned....

Saturday, May 20, 2017

Playoffs Day 35

The Penguins and Senators played game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals and it was a close one. The Penguins held on to beat the Senators 3-2 and tie the series at 2 just like the Ducks Predators series. The Penguins got a 3-0 lead in the 1st and 2nd, but the Senators got 1 back before the end of the 2nd. The Senators also got 1 late, but the Penguins proved their worth and held on for the victory. Brian Dumoulin got the game winner for the Penguins and game 5 will be in Pittsburgh where the best of 3 series will begin. Can the Penguins take their first series lead? Can the Senators bounce back? Who will win game 5? stay tuned....

Friday, May 19, 2017

Playoffs Day 34

What a game. The Predators and Ducks played game 4 of the western conference finals and it had a great ending. The Ducks tied the series at 2 and ended the Predators home playoffs win streak. The Ducks scored in the 1st and 2nd and controlled the game. It was all Ducks until with 6:30 minutes left in the game P.K Subban scored and got the Predators right back into the game. \Somehow with 34 seconds left Filip Foresberg tied the game up and the Predators looked to have all the momentum to carry them to an overtime victory. The Ducks struck with about 10 minutes left scored to tie the series up. Corey Perry was their hero in overtime again and Corey Perry has scored in 3 of the Ducks' 4 overtimes. Can the Predators bounce back? Can the Ducks shut down the Predators again? Who will win game 5? stay tuned....

Thursday, May 18, 2017

Playoffs Day 33

The Senators and Penguins played a big game 3 and we got very interesting results. The Senators beat the Penguins 5-1 in Ottawa to take a 2-1 series lead. The Senators scored 48 seconds in and then got 3 more goals in the 1st to take a 4-0 lead heading to the second. The Senators added another one in the 2nd and the Penguins managed to get 1, but it was over at that point. Matt Murray did have to come in during the game so you could either say it was Fleury's fault or the Senators were really good. Marc Methot got the game winning goal in the 1st period. Game 4 is in Ottawa where the Penguins will look to tie the series and the Senators will look to get within 1 win of the Stanley Cup Finals. Can Fleury bounce back? Can the Senators continue this offense? Who will win game 4 stay tuned....

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Playoffs Day 32

Game 3 of the western conference finals was an interesting one that had.......results. The Predators stayed undefeated at home with a 2-1 victory over the Ducks. The Predators really came to play this game and they certainly did with 40 shots to the Ducks' 20. The game was somehow scoreless in the 1st, but in the 2nd the Ducks scored after getting a goal disallowed and the second period ended. The Predators played especially hard in the 3rd and they got 2 goals. Roman Josi's goal with about 3 minutes left in the game was the game winner. Game 4 is in Nashville where the Predators will look to stay undefeated there and gain a 3-1 series lead. Can the Predators play like this again? Can the Ducks get more offense? Who will win game 4? stay tuned....

Tuesday, May 16, 2017

Playoffs Day 31

Game 2 of the Senators and Penguins was the closest one yet even though it didn't go to overtime. The Penguins beat the Senators 1-0 in Pittsburgh to tie the series at 1 against the Senators. The game was very physical and very intense the whole time and no team held back. The fist 2 periods were scoreless, but midway in the 3rd Phil Kessel got a chance on the rush and put it past Craig Anderson and that was all she wrote even though the Senators pulled the goalie and came close. The Penguins out shot the Senators 29-23 and game 3 will be in Ottawa where one team will take the series lead. Will game 3 be this close? Can the Senators get some offense? Who will win game 3? stay tuned....

Monday, May 15, 2017

Playoffs Day 30

Game 2 of the western conference finals now exists and it was a great game. The Ducks tied the series at 1 by winning 5-3 over the Predators in Anaheim. The Predators got the first 2, but the Ducks tied it up. The Predators went up by 1, but the Ducks tied it. Then instead of tying the game the Ducks scored to take the lead in the game and they got an empty netter to seal the deal. All of this happened even though the Predators out shot the Ducks 33-27. The Ducks played bad in the 1st, but really well for the rest of the game, but you could say Pekka Rinne could have played better. Game 3 will be in Smashville and no that wasn't a typo. The Senators and Penguins play tonight so that will obviously be the next post. Was the game Rinne's fault? Who will take the series lead? Can the Ducks continue to play like this? stay tuned....

Sunday, May 14, 2017

Playoffs Day 29

So the Senators and Penguins played game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals and it went to overtime just like 24 other playoff games. The Senators beat the Penguins 2-1 in Pittsburgh in thrilling fashion. The Senators turned out to be a tough opponent and out played the Penguins for the whole game. That doesn't mean that the Penguins weren't good because they were down by 1 with 5 minutes left and they tied it to send the game into overtime. Bobby Ryan won the game in overtime early to give the Senators  1-0 series lead. Game 2 will be in Pittsburgh where the Penguins will look tot tie the series at 1 game a piece. Can the Senators continue to play this well? Will the Penguins bounce back? Who will win game 2? stay tuned....

Saturday, May 13, 2017

Playoffs Day 28

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals went to overtime and it was nice. The Predator took a 1-09 series lead in Anaheim where the seats were empty for the 1st period. The Ducks scored on their first shot, but the Predators bounced back to tie it up. The Predators scored in the 2nd and the Ducks in the 3rd so it was tied at 2 going into overtime. James Neal won it on over time on a 1 timer from the point to give the Predators their first Western Conference Finals win in their history. Game 2 is in Anaheim where the Ducks will look to tie the series up and maybe sell some more tickets. Can the Ducks bounce back? Will the Predators take a 2-0 series lead? What will happen in game 2? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 27

So round 2 is over and we have our game 7 winners and losers. The losers were the Capitals and Oilers and the winners were the Penguins and Ducks. The Penguins beat the Capitals 2-0  in Washington D.C, sending the Capitals home in round 2 yet again. Marc Andre Fleury stole the show with 29 saves to have a clutch shutout in game 7. Bryan Rust got the game winner in the 2nd. This is a huge disappointment for the Capitals who were looking to go far, but their 2nd round demons have met them again. The Ducks beat the Oilers 2-1 in Anaheim. The Ducks finally got past their game 7 demon and actually won. The Oilers struck first thou, and the Ducks had a got disallowed because of offside so the first was not looking good for the Ducks. They tied it in the 2nd and they played really well from there and it went to the 3rd when Nick Ritchie got the game winner 3:21 in the 3rd. The Oilers can hang their heads high because they were no expected to be in the second round or even the playoffs so this was a great run for them. Round 3 match ups are, Penguins vs. Senators and Predators vs. Ducks. Why do the Capitals always lose in round 2? Could the Oilers have won the game? Who will advance to the Stanley Cup Final? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 26

Yesterday's game was very important that ended with a series clinching win. The Senators advanced to the eastern conference finals for the first time since 2007 with a 4-2 victory over the Rangers, The Senators finally had a good start to the game where they got 2 goals in the 1st. Then the Rangers scored, but the Sens responded right back with Karlsson's game winning goal in the 2nd. The Rangers got within 1, but an empty net goal with 7 seconds left finished the Rangers off at Madison Square Garden where the Senators failed to win during the series until now. The Senators will play the winner of the Capitals Penguins series which is tonight and the Oilers and Ducks will play to see who will face the Predators tonight so round 2 will be over today and there likely will be a small break between round 2 and 3, but you never know. Did the senators deserve the win? What should the Rangers have done differently? Who will the Senators play in the eastern conference finals? stay tuned.... All credit to "Puck Daddy" for the image

Playoffs Day 25

So we only got to see one game, but it was an important one that kept a team alive. The Capitals easily beat the Penguins 5-2 in Pittsburgh. The Caps got 1 goal in the 1st and 2nd and then they took off in the 3rd and got a 5-0 lead. The Penguins got 2 late ones, but it didn't matter since the game was basically over. The Penguins were very sloppy throughout the game and could not generate any good scoring chances and the Capitals did of curse so they scored more obviously. Game 7 is in Washington D.C on May 10th along with game 7 of the Oilers Ducks series so May 10th is an exciting day for hockey fans. How can the Penguins get more offense? Can the Capitals complete the comeback? Who will win both game 7's? stay tuned....

Monday, May 8, 2017

Playoffs Day 24

Yesterday was a historic day for one team and great day for another. The Predators beat the Blues 3-1 and have advanced to the western conference finals for the first time in their history. The crowd was absolutely crazy and the Predators used that momentum throughout the game. The Blues struck first, but the Predators got the next 3 to win the game. Ryan Johansen got the game winner in the 3rd period. The Oilers stayed alive by beating the Ducks 7-1. The Oilers scored 5 goals in the 1st and it was over at that point. The game was all Oilers and they              got the game winning goal in the 1st which was from Leon Draisaitl who also got a hat trick. Game 7 will be in Anaheim where the winner will play the Predators in the Western Conference Final. Can the Predators advance to the cup final? Who will win game 7? Can the Ducks bounce back? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 23

We had 2 great games yesterday that had a team take the series lead and a team avoid elimination. First off the Capitals avoided elimination when they beat the Penguins 4-2 in Washington D.C even though Sidney Crosby returned for the Penguins. The game went back and forth until the Capitals scored 3 goals in the 3rd which included 2 in 27 seconds. Evgeny Kuznetsv got the game winner in the 3rd and game 6 is in Pittsburgh where the Capitals will look to force a game 7 which they could not do last year. The Senators beat the Rangers 5-4 in Ottawa which once again has the home team winning every single game. The Rangers got the first few, but the Senators stormed back and tied the game with about a minute left in the game to force overtime. The Rangers scored, but it was ruled off because of a clear high stick. Kyle Turris was the hero for the Senators even though his goal was also reviewed, but it was allowed. Game 6 will be in New York where the Rangers will hope to continue the trend of the home team winning every game. Can the Penguins finish off the Capitals in game 6 again? Can the Rangers continue the home winning trend? Will both these series be over in 6? stay tuned....

Saturday, May 6, 2017

Playoffs Day 22

Wow, yesterday's games were both good, but 1 game in particular was just unbelievable. The Blues stayed alive by beating the Predators 2-1 in St. Louis. The game was back and forth, but the Blues had more to play for and they clearly played harder. Jaden Schwartz got the game winner in the 3rd period. Game 6 will be in Nashville where the Predators are undefeated so far and they still lead the series 3-2. The Chokers and Ducks played an exciting game that went to double overtime. The Oilers I mean Chokers got 3 goals in the 2nd and looked to have the win in the bag with 4 :30 minutes to go, but nope the Ducks scored 3 goals in those last couple minutes and Corey Perry scored the double overtime winner. The Ducks literally had 64 shots on goal and have out shot the Chokers every game yet they haven't swept the series somehow. Game 6 is in Edmonton where the Ducks will look to finish off the series. Can the Blues stave off elimination again? Will the Ducks finish the series? Can the Oilers (Chokers) stay alive? stay tuned....

Friday, May 5, 2017

Playoffs Day 21

We only had 1 game yesterday and it was a bad one. The Rangers beat the Senators 4-1 and it wasn't even close. The Rangers were clearly the better the team the whole time and obviously got the results they wanted. Oscar Lindberg got the game winner and Kyle Turris got a meaningless goal for the Senators in the 3rd. The series is now tied 2-2 heading back to Ottawa. Can the Senators increaese their scoring? Will the Rangers continue to dominate? Who will take the series lead? stay tuned....

Thursday, May 4, 2017

Playoffs Day 20

Yesterday we had 2 series at 2-1 and we got to see both situations happen last night. The Washington chokers lost to the Penguins 3-2 last night even though the Penguins didn't have Crosby or Rust. Justin Schultz got the game winner for the Penguins even though the Pens got out shot 38-19. The Capitals have never been past the second round in the Ovechkin era and he's past 30 so it looks like the Capitals will once again choke in the 2nd round, but you never know. The Ducks tied the series at 2 when they bet the Oilers again in overtime. It's games like this were experience really is the deciding factor. The game was 4-3 and the Oilers got the first 2 then the Ducks got the next 3, then the Oilers tied it up, and then Jakob Silverberg put a 1 timer on the net and won the game. Can the Capitals get past the 2nd round? Will the Penguins close it out? Will the Ducks take the series lead? stay tuned....

Wednesday, May 3, 2017

Playoffs Day 19

We had 2 games yesterday that we 2 very important ones as usual. 1 team avoid being down 3-0 and the other went up 3-1. The Rangers beat the Senators 4-1 in New York yesterday. The Rangers dominated the game from the start probably because they had more to play for. Pageau the god himself was the only Senator who scored and Michael Grabner of the Rangers was 1 of 4, but his was the game winner in the 2nd period. The Senators lead the series 2-1. The Blues and Predators played a very close game that ended up with the Predators winning 2-1 at once again to take a 3-1 series lead. Both goalies played out of this world throughout the game and made some jaw dropping saves, but Jake Allen was the first to break because Ryan Ellis and James Neal scored in the thrd to make it 2-0. The Blues got a goal with around 3 minute left, but it wasn't enough as the Predators won it and can win the series in game 5 which is at St.Louis. Can the Rangers tie the series? Can the Blues stave off of elimination? Will the goalies keep playing really well? stay tuned....

Tuesday, May 2, 2017

Playoffs Day 18

We only had 1 game yesterday, but that game turned out to be a very important one. The Capitals beat the Penguins 3-2 in over time after allowing the Penguins to score 2 goals with less than 2 minutes left to tie the game. The game was very close throughout and the Penguins played well without Crosby and I'll explain that in a second. Kevin Shattenkirk scored the overtime winner on a shot from the point. Sidney Crosby got injured in the first period when Matt Niskanen cross checked Crosby in the side of the head. Niskanen  got elected and Crosby did not return to the game. The Penguins still lead 2-1 as game 4 is in Pittsburgh again. Who will win game 4? Will Crosby be back this series? Should Matt Niskanen be suspended? stay tuned....

Monday, May 1, 2017

Playoffs Day 17

Yesterday's playoff games were good, but not as good as the day before, but both of the 2 western conference playoff series' are now at 2-1. The Predators beat the Blues 3-1 in Nashville. The game was very close as usual and really the Predators got more lucky bounces than the Blues so it wasn't Jake Allen's fault for allowing 3 goals. The Predators lead 2-1 and have the chance to go up 3-1 in Nashville tomorrow. The Ducks got back into their series against the Oilers by beating them 6-3 in Edmonton. These 2 team didn't have a really high scoring game until now and they clearly did last night. Cam Talbot had a bed night because he allowed 6 goals on 28 shots and w know he can do better because he saved 39 out of 40 in game 2. The Ducks went up 3-0 early and the Oilers tied it up in the 2nd, but then Talbot allowed a bad goal and it was all Ducks from there. Chris Wagner scored the bad goal which was the game winner. The Ducks can tie the series up in game 4 or the Oilers can take a 3-1 lead. Can the Predators take a commanding 3-1 lead? Can the Ducks tie the series up? Will Cam Talbot bounce back? stay tuned....

2017 Draft Lottery

Yesterday was a big day for one team and possibility the biggest disappointment for another. The New Jersey Devils have won the draft lottery! The poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor poor Colorado Avalanche who had the worst finish in franchise history and one of the worst finishes in NHL history had a 18% chance to win the lottery which is more than any other team dropped back to 4th overall. There is one bright side for the Avs. This year's draft class isn't that good, but that doesn't mean Nolan Patrick or Nico Hischier are bad, they're really good. Also the Flyers moved up 11 spots and will pick 2nd overall. The Stars also moved up (7 spots) and will pick 3rd overall. there is also Timothy Liljegren who is the top defense man in the draft so he's up for grabs. It's crazy to think that these top prospects will be on the Devils, Flyers, and Stars who are all just mediocre teams and now these average teams can be contenders once again. I will list the top 14 picks in the order of the draft. Will the Avalanche trade up? Who will the Devils pick first? Should the NHL keep using the lottery system? stay tuned....
1.Devils
2.Flyers
3.Stars
4.Avalanche
5. Canucks
6.Golden Knights
7.Coyotes
8.Sabres
9.Red Wings
10.Panthers
11.Kings
12.Hurricanes
13.Jets
14.Lightning

Playoffs Day 16

Yesterday in general was absolutely crazy for the NHL. The draft lottery had surprising results and the 2 playoff games we had we just insane. The Penguins crushed the Capitals 6-2 in Washington DC. The game was basically all Penguins and Braden Holtby got pulled and did not start the third period. This loss is a kick in the nuts for the Capitals as they have to go to Pittsburgh and try to get back into the series. Jake Guenztel continued his playoffs success as he got the game wining goal in the 2nd period. The Senators came back from a 2 goal hole with less than 3 minutes left in the game to win in double overtime 6-5 against the Rangers. The god himself Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored 4 freaking goals including the overtime winner. The Rangers had this game in the bag, but as usual could not hold a lead. This is easily the best game of the playoffs so far so you better watch highlights on this one. I'll have a small post about the draft lottery soon today. Will the Capitals get back in the series? Can the Senators get back to the Eastern conference finals? Will Pageau have another good game? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 15

So yesterday's games were both 1 goal games and one of them had a goalie make 39 saves to steal a game. The Oilers somehow won game 2 against the Ducks in Anaheim to take  2-0 series lead. Andrej Sekera scored just over a minute in and Cam Talbot stole the show from there as he saved 39 out of 40 shots from the Ducks. Patrick Maroon scored the game winner off his skate. The Oilers have a chance to take a 3-0 series lead in Edmonton tomorrow. The Blues tied their series up against the Predators by beating them 3-2. The game was a very hard played one that was very close the entire time. Vladimir Tarasenko scored 2 goals and one of them was the game winner with about 4 minutes to go in the game. The series shift to Nashville where both teams will be looking to take the lead in the series. Will the Ducks solve Cam Talbot? Can the Oilers take a 3-0 series lead? Which team will take the series lead in game 3? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 14

Round 2 is now fully underway and we got to see 2 games decided by 1 goal. The Senators beat the Rangers 2-1 in Ottawa. The game was close for most of the time until Erik Karlsson scored with less than 5 minutes left in the game to give the Sens a 2-1 lead. The goal was from behind the goal line which makes the goal even more like a punch to the gut for the Rangers. The Penguins beat the Capitals 3-2 in Washington. We got to see Crosby and Ovi score and Crosby got 2 goals in 52 seconds actually. The Capitals than tied the game up at 2, but Nick Bonino with about 6 minutes left in the 3rd got a breakaway and scored which was the game winner. The game had a playoffs like feel for sure and there were many scrums throughout. Can the Senators extend their lead? Can the Capitals tie the series up? Will Crosby have another good game? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 13

Round 2 has started and it has started with a bang. The away team in both games won in some crazy games. The Predators beat the Blues 4-3 in St.Louis. P.K Subban had an amazing game with the first two goals except the first one turned out to be tipped in. The game went back and forth until it was 3-3, but Vernon Fiddler got the game winner when a shot hit his skates in front of the net and he pushed the puck in the net. Finally some team was able to solve Jake Allen. Kevin Fiala also had a leg injury and had to leave he game so he may be out for a while.  The Oilers stole game 1 against the Ducks by beating them 5-3 in Anaheim. The game was very even until the Oilers exploded in the third period and Adam Larsson got the game winner when he went from coast to coast to shove it past Gibson. Mark Letestu and Adam Larsson both got 2 goals in the game.

Playoffs Day 12

Round 1 is over. The Senators and Capitals finished off their series both in overtime and round 2 is set.The Senators beat the Bruins 3-2 in Boston in a very hard fought game. Clarke MacArthur got the overtime winner on a one timer in front of the net. The Senators will be playing the Rangers for round 2. The Capitals beat the Maple Leafs 2-1 in Toronto in overtime. The Leafs scored first in the third, but the Caps tied it later in the period and Marcus Johansson got his second of the night which of course was the OT winner. The Capitals will once again play the Penguins in round 2 and they may be able to get over the hump of round 2 finally. Can the Senators beat the Rangers? Can the Capitals finally get past round 2? What's next for the Maple Leafs and Bruins? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 11

Well that's three more series that are done. The Blues, Oilers, and Rangers all closed out their series yesterday. The Oilers beat the Sharks 3-1 in San Jose last night to close out the series in 6 games. It was a very close game that had the Sharks out shoot the Oilers 28-21, but Cam Talbot stood strong and had enough goal support to win. Anton Slepyshev got the game winner and the Oilers will face the Ducks for round 2. The Rangers beat the Canadiens in New York 3-1 to win the series in 6 games. Matts Zuccarello had an amazing 2 goal game and got the game winner. This is a huge disappointment for the Canadiens who were looking to go far after missing the playoffs last year, but they just couldn't find a way to win more games. The Rangers will play the winner of the Bruins?Senators series. The Blues beat the Wild in the craziest game of the series. The Wild were down in the third, but scored two goals to force overtime and they kept plying really well, but Dubnyk wet the bed and allowed Mangus Paajarvi to score and win the series for the Blues. The Blues will now play the Predators in round 2 and that should be an amazing series for sure. Could the Sharks have taken game 6? Where was the Canadiens offense? Was the game Devin Dubnyk's fault? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 10

Both games in the playoffs yesterday went to overtime and both series stand at 3-2. The Capitals beat the Leafs in overtime in Washington on Justin William's goal to give the Caps a 3-2 series lead. The game was very close and Alex Oviechkin got injured in the first, but returned to finish the game. Game 6 is at Air Canada Centre in Toronto where the Leafs will look to stay alive and force a game 7. The Bruin beat the Senators in double overtime to stay alive and force a game 6 back in Boston. The Bruins came back from 2-0 down and had their first goal in overtime disallowed so they scored again and Sean Kuraly was the one to end it. Game 6 will be at TD Garden in Boston where the Bruins can force a game 7. Can the Capitals close out the series? Will the Bruins force a game 7? Is Oviechkin's injury going to affect him later on? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 9

Two more series closed out last night and two just got even better. The Predators finished the sweep of the Hawks when they beat them 4-1 at home. It was close until the second half of the third where they took over, and Colton Sissions won the game. The Preds will play the Wild or Blues in round 2. The Penguins won their series over the Blue Jackets when they dominated them in game 5 by winning 5-2. Bryan Rust got the game winner for his second of the game and the Pens will play the winner of the Leafs Caps series. The Oilers took a 3-2 series lead at home when they came back and won game 5 4-3 in over time. The Oilers got the first one, but the Sharks got the next 3 so the Oilers rallied and Oscar Klefbom won it in OT. The Rangers took a 3-2 series lead by beating the Canadiens 3-2 on the road. The whole game was back and forth for the Canadiens' favor, but they didn't get a third one since Mika Zibanajad won it in OT. This was perhaps the biggest win of the playoffs for the Rangers so they now can win it a home. Were the Predators good or did the Blackhawks choke? Did the Blue Jackets even stand a chance? Can the Oilers close out the series in San Jose? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 8

Two teams had the chance to sweep yesterday, but only 1 did it and that was the Anaheim Ducks, you'll see. The Senators took a choke hold on the series against the Bruins when they beat the Bruins 1-0 in Boston and took a 3-1 series lead coming back to Ottawa for game 5 thanks to Bobby Ryan's goal and he's having a great playoffs so far. The Capitals held on to beat the Leafs 5-4 in an insane 1st period where they scored 4 goals and allowed 1. The Caps didn't play well after that since they allowed 3 unanswered goals, but T.J Oshie got the game winner in the third period. Game 5 is in Washington where someone will break the 2-2 tie. The Wild will live to fight another day as the beat the Blues 2-0 in St.Louis for their first win of the series. Charlie Coyle got the game winning goal in the first period. Last but not least the Ducks finished the seep of Calgary who had no chance from the get go. Brian Elliot got pulled after allowing his millionth horrible goal that should have been saved. The Ducks still won 3-1 and Nate Thompson got the game winning goal in the 1st period. Brian Elliot after this poor performance could very well be left unprotected in the expansion draft coming this summer. Today the Penguins and Predators will look to finish their series so tonight's games will be very important. Can the Bruins comeback? Can the Leafs beat the Capitals in Washington again? Was it Brian Elliot's fault for the Flames sweep? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 7

So yesterday's playoffs had two close games and one not so close. The Rangers beat the Canadiens 2-1 and tied the series at 2. The game was back and forth , but Rick Nash's goal in the 2nd was the game winner. Game 5 will be in Montreal. The Sharks scored a touchdown when they killed the Oilers 7-0 in San Jose. All I can say is once the Sharks started , it was was over and Joe Pavelski got the first goal of the game which was enough to tie the series at 2 and game 5 will be in Edmonton. The Blue Jackets beat the Penguins 5-4 to stay alive in Columbus without Weinberg. The Blue Jackets scored early and always stayed on top the whole game even though the Penguins scored a late goal to make it 5-4. William Karlsson got game winner. The series is now a 3-1 lead for the Penguins who are returning home in Pittsburgh for game 5. Today there are 4 games that are being played so next post will be tomorrow as usual. Can the Rangers take the series lead? Will the Oilers bounce back? Can the Blue Jackets stay alive again? stay tuned.... (photo credit to Puck Daddy)

Playoffs Day 6

Yesterday we had all 4 games go into overtime and two teams go down 3-0 in the series. The Senators took a 2-1 series lead in Boston after they blew a 3-0 lead they had in the second and Bobby Ryan won it in overtime for the 4-3 victory. This series will definitely be close since every game has been a 1 goal game. The Blackhawks got their first 2 goals of the series last night, but of course allowed 2 goals in the third and of course lost in overtime thanks to Kevin Fiala. Looks like my playoff bracket will be completely wrong since the Hawks will most likely be swept in Nashville. The Flames blew a 4-1 lead and lost 5-4 to the Ducks in Calgary to go down 3-0 in the series. The Flames had such an amazing start with all of their goals, but once the smoke came, the fire started as the Ducks just dominated and Corey Perry won it in overtime. The Maple Leafs took a 2-1 series lead when they beat the Capitals in overtime once again 4-1 in Toronto. Auston Matthews scored his first playoff goal like McDavid. The Leafs played an amazing 3rd period and Tyler Bozak deflected JVR's shot for the win. Will the Blackhawks and Flames get swept? Can the Bruins tie the series? Can the Leafs take a 3-1 lead? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 5

Yesterday's action showed us that we have 2 different 3-0 leads for 2 different teams. The Canadiens took a 2-1 series lead when they beat the Rangers 3-1 at Madison Square Garden. They were up 3-0 until the Rangers got one late, but it didn't matter at that point. Shea Weber got the eventual game winning goal in the third period. The Blues took a 3-0 series lead against the Wild when they beat them 3-1 at home. The Wild throughout the series have out shot the Blues every single game, but have only managed 1 goal a game. Jaden Schwartz once again got the game winning goal in the third and the Blues got an empty net goal to seal the deal. Jake Allen has been absolutely amazing since he has saved 114 out of 117 total shots in the series. The Oilers once again shut out the Sharks, but this time it was only 1-0 at SAP Center. San Jose out shot the Oilers 23-22, but couldn't beat Cam Talbot, Zack Kassian scored the lone goal in the third. Of course I saved the best for last, the Penguins took a 3-0 series lead against the Blue Jackets as they made a great comeback down 3-1 and won 5-4 in overtime. The Jackets were up 11 seconds into the game thanks to Cam Atkinson and they took a 3-1 lead, but Zach Werenski took a puck to the face which caused a Penguins goal, and Zach returned to the ice like a boss. Jake Guentzel the rookie for the Penguins got a hat trick and also got the overtime winner. Can the Blues and Penguins sweep their series? Can the Sharks get a goal against the Oilers? Can the Rangers tie the series? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 4

Yesterdays games had two thrilling overtime games, a close 1 goal game, and......you'll see. The Ducks once again beat the Flames 3-2 and a big reason for that was an unlucky bounce off of Lance Bouma that gave the Ducks the lead late in the third period. The Ducks lead the series 2-0 heading to Calgary The Predators have yet again shut out the Blackhawks in the United Center, but this time it was 5-0. Pekka Rinne has 2 assists which is more points that the entire Blackhawks team for the entire series and he and the Predators have a 2-0 series lead coming back home. The Senators tied the series against the Bruins in a thrilling 4-3 overtime win in Ottawa and Clarke MacArthur scored for the first time in 2 years since getting two concussions. Dion Phaneuf scored off of a bomb from the point. I saved the best for last because the Maple Leafs beat the Capitals in double overtime in Washington to tie the series. My brackets is already wrong thanks to Kasperi Kapanen who received a no looker pass from Brian Boyle to put it home to win it 4-3 for the Maple Leafs. In other news Matt Calvert got suspended for 1 game after breaking his stick on Tom Kuhnhackl's back and checking him when he was hurt. Somehow he only got suspended for 1 game since that play was extremely dirty and the department of player safety is total trash. Can the Flames tie up the series at home? Can the Leafs take the lead? Will the Blackhawks ever score a goal? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 3

So yesterday's games were amazing as usual and we now have two series tied at 1 a piece. The Blues and Wild another close game, but Jaden Schwartz scored with about two minutes left in the third to win it. The Wild came close to tying it at the last second, but time went out when Charlie Coyle put the puck in, 2-1 was the final score and the Blues have a 2-0 series lead. That's especially bad news for the Wild since games 3 and 4 are in St.Louis so the Wild need to at least take 1 in St.Louis. The Oilers tied the series up by beating the Sharks 2-0 and Connor McDavid scored his first playoffs goal to extend their lead to 2. The Penguins took at 2-0 series lead against the Blue Jackets by beating them 4-1 and Sidney Crosby goal a goal and an assist coming off game one where he was pointless. The Rangers and Canadiens played the most exciting game of the night when Tomas Plekanec tied the game at 3 with seconds remaining and Alexander Radulov won it in overtime. The game had an insane amount of shots and a very sweet goal by Michael Grabner while on a breakaway. The other series have their second game tonight so obviously my next post will be on Easter. Can the Wild get back in their series? Will the Blue Jackets get back into it at home? Can the Oilers and Canadiens take the lead in their respective series? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 2

Day 2 of the playoffs had the remaining series start and we had a couple good ones. First off the Predators beat the Blackhawks 1-0 on a goal by Victor Arvidsson even though the Hawks were on offense most of the game. The Capitals beat the Maple Leafs 3-2 on an overtime goal by Tom Wilson. The Caps had to comeback since the Leafs got the first two goals in the first period. The Flames continue to not win in Anaheim as they lost 3-2 in a very exciting game. Tomorrow we have game two of the other series except for the Boston Ottawa one that will be on Saturday along with all the series I just talked about. Can the Blackhawks bounce back? Can the Leafs steal a game in Washington? Can the Flames end their long losing streak in Anaheim? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 1

So the playoffs are here! Which means I'll be posting a lot now like last year. The Rangers manhandled the Canadiens on the road 2-0 on a game winner by Tanner Glass. The Bruins won 2-1 over the Senators on a late Brad Marchand goal which really makes you hate him even more. The Penguins had o have Marc Andre Fleury start in net when Matt Murray got hurt during warm ups, but it didn't matter since the Penguins won 3-1 even though the Blue Jackets out shot the Penguins 32-29. The Blues ruined the Wild's comeback with a 2-1 overtime victory even though the Wild scored with 30 seconds left in the game to tie it a 1. The Sharks completed their comeback against the Oilers in Edmonton with a 3-2 win with the ot goal being scored by "The Milk Man" Melker Karlsson. The Predators, Blackhawks, Maple Leafs, Capitals, Flames, and Ducks ore on tonight so the next post is tomorrow. Will Matt Murray be able to return to action? CAn the Wild get some more scoring? What will happen tomorrow? stay tuned....

NHL as of February 20th

The NHL this week had a milestone, an odd coaching change, new teams in contention and a dirty head shot. Sidney Crosby got his 1,000th career point against the Jets on an assist and he's the 86th player in NHL history to do so. The Canadiens fired head coach Michel Therrien and hired Claude Julien immediately which was an absolute shocker considering Claude Julien coach the Canadiens' rival Bruins. In a game between the Jets and Senators Jacob Trouba of the Jets hit Mark Stone of the Senators with a direct hit to  he head and Stone is the leading goal scorer for the Senators and will have a hearing soon so he will be suspened. The Senators are also surprisingly only 2 points away from being first in the Atlantic after missing the playoffs last year. The Panthers, Islanders, and Flyers are all one win away from taking the Maple Leafs' final wild card spot which has been really close all year. I also want to note since the Lightning are doing bad because they lost Steven Stamkos and will have a higher draft pick than usual, Stamkos' injury could be a good thing for the future. Did the Canadiens make the right choice? How long will Trouba be suspended for? Is Stamkos' injury a good thing? stay tuned....

NHL as of February 13th

The NHL had an interesting week that had, and owner pass away, an ugly high sticking, and comeback teams. Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch passed away this week and he owned the Red Wings for 35 years and led his team to many Stanley Cups. He was 87. Speaking of Red Wings, Gustav Nyquist had an ugly intentional high sticking on Jared Spurgeon against the Wild. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRu-AppKGq I'll let the video speak for itself. He will have a hearing with the department of player safety soon and will be suspended. The New York Islanders are literally one point out of a playoffs start after their horrible 1st half which had them almost last in the NHL. The Florida Panthers are also back after their bad start. I want to get this post out quickly since it's late so I'll just link the injuries here With Mike Ilitch's passing impact the Red Wings? How long should Nyquist be suspended for? Will the Islanders and PAnthers make the playoffs? stay tuned....

NHL as of February 5th

Yes I know the site looks different, I decided to change things up a little bit so I'll use this look for now. Anyways the NHL had a solid week that had a losing streak snapped, injuries, milestone celebrations, a rookie hat trick, big returns and just really good games. The Avalanche snapped a 9 game losing streak last night to the Jets by winning 5-2 at home. The Avalanche are still in last by a landslide. Alex Ovechkin got a golden stick today during a pregame ceremony to celebrate his 1,000 NHL point that he got on the 11th. Maple Leafs' rookie William Nylander got his first NHL hat trick against the Bruins in a 6-5 win in Boston even though his team was out shot 41-26. Jonathan Huberdeau and Alexander Barkov have finally returned to the Panthers, Huberdeau was injured during preseason and Barkov was injured on December 28th plus Huberdeau scored in his first game back. The Panthers are currently 3 points away from a playoffs spot after a slow first half so maybe the Panthers will be as good or even better than last year. I recommend you watch some highlights of some of the games this week because they were just really good games, and a lot of games were one goal games. For all of my fellow Americans watching the Super Bowl tonight GO FALCONS. Notable Injuries are below. Is Ovechkin one of the best of all time? Are the Avalanche going to get the first overall pick? Can the Panthers turn it around with their star players back? stay tuned....

NHL as of January 29th All Star Edition

So the All Star competition was yesterday and the games are today so I don't have a lot to report for this week. The two days the regular season was going on had a really cool retro night from the Devils and you should click the link to check out the amazing video they had here http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nj-devils-retro-night-was-pure-amazing-nostalgic-joy-video-160911522.html The all star competition was nothing special except for the fact that Mike Smith a goalie for he Coyotes scored a goal from the goal line in the four line challenge right down the middle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krPWOcXemAg overall the Atlantic Division won this year, but the Pacific Division could defend their title today in the 3 on 3 tournament so watch out for that. Not going to do injuries since there was only two days of actual NHL hockey so stay tuned....
