NHL as of January 29th All Star Edition

So the All Star competition was yesterday and the games are today so I don't have a lot to report for this week. The two days the regular season was going on had a really cool retro night from the Devils and you should click the link to check out the amazing video they had here http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nj-devils-retro-night-was-pure-amazing-nostalgic-joy-video-160911522.html The all star competition was nothing special except for the fact that Mike Smith a goalie for he Coyotes scored a goal from the goal line in the four line challenge right down the middle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krPWOcXemAg overall the Atlantic Division won this year, but the Pacific Division could defend their title today in the 3 on 3 tournament so watch out for that. Not going to do injuries since there was only two days of actual NHL hockey so stay tuned....

NHL as of January 24th

This week was an interesting one that had a crazy comeback, lots of scoring, a goalie pulled twice in the same game a four goal period, and a trade. On the 18th the Red Wings and Bruins were playing a game were the Bruins were winning 4-1 at one point, and the Red Wings stormed back to win the game 6-5 in a shootout and that was just crazy and surly made a Leafs fan happy. The Capitals once again had a 7 goal game this time they won against the Blues 7-3. Jake Allen allowed 2 goals on the first three shots of the game so he got pulled for a mental reset. He was put in a few minutes later and allowed 2 more goals on 7 more shots and got pulled for the second time in the same game.
Patrick Marleau yesterday had a 4 goal third period including a natural hat trick against the Avalanche that propelled the Sharks to a 5-2 victory. A trade has happened between the Sharks and Senators today that has Tommy Wingels going to Ottawa in exchange for Buddy Robinson, Zack Stortini, and a 7th round pick for this years draft. I should also note that Patrick Laine is returning to action tonight along. Also Kings goalie Jonathan Quick who has been injured all year will be out until March and that might just keep the Kings out of the playoffs. Can the Capitals keep up the scoring? NHL as of January 17th

Sorry this is late, but the NHL during the past week and two days has been sort of interesting. The Capitals had a 9 game winning streak snapped in an 8-7 loss to the Penguins. In case I forgot to tell you guys, the NHL is not allowing alternate uniforms for the 2017-2018 season because Adidas is taking over reebok as the NHL jersey supplier and to make it easier for them, there will be no third jerseys for a year. I know that sucks. NHL as of January 8th

So this was an interesting week that had major injuries, a winning streak lost, and team U.S.A beat Canada to win the gold medal in the world junior championship. First off the Blue Jackets' 16 game winning streak was lost to the Capitals when they were beat 5-0 plus the Blue Jackets lost to the Rangers last night when they blew a 4-1 lead in the third. They were one game shy of tying the NHL record of 17 straight. Patrick Laine has been diagnosed with a concussion during a game against the Sabres on an open ice hit from Jake McCabe and is out indefinitely. Brendan Gallagher of the Canadiens injured his left hand again hen he took a 97 MPH slap shot from Shea Weber to his left hand and will be out for 8 weeks. The Maple Leafs were in a playoff spot, but now are tied with the Senators with 44 points. Beside that I have nothing else to say, but to watch the NFL playoffs if your favorite team isn't on. Plus when the NHL centennial fan arena comes to your town, you should go to it and check out a museum, virtual reality Zamboni, ball hockey, trivia, a picture of you touching the real Stanley Cup, and much more. NHL as of January 3rd

This past week of the NHL has been something truly special from outdoor games to a 14 game versus a 12 game winning streak game. I want to first shout out the Wild for having a 12 twelve game winning streak, but it got snapped to the Blue Jackets who are currently on a 15 game winning streak which is two games away from the NHL record of 17. The game was 4-2 Blue Jackets and it really proved that the Jackets deserve to be undefeated in December which is absolutely crazy. The Blue Jackets are first in the NHL with 56 points and should easily make the playoffs. The outdoor games were very interesting and depressing for me. The Centennial Classic between the Maple Leafs and Red Wings was just plain awesome and it had the Leafs up 4-1 in the third (like 2013) and blow the lead. The Wings scored with under a second left, but Auston Matthews scored his second goal of the game in overtime to win it 5-4. The Winter had the Blackhawks and Blues play a very tight game that was tied at one until Vladimir Tarasenko scored two in the third period and the Blues got an empty netter to win the game 4-1. Shout out to my team the Blackhawks on going 1-4 in all of their outdoor games. The All Star captains were announced today for the game and skill competition in Los Angeles on the 29th. Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, P.K. Subban, and Carey Price. Just pointing out that Steven Stamkos of the Lightning is off of crutches and could be back soon to help the out of playoff position Lightning.
