Stanley Cup Finals Game 1

The game was super close the whole time, but the Penguins scored with 2:33 left to go in the game and won it 3-2. The first period was dominated by the Penguins, but the second was dominated by the Sharks, and the third was even. Bryan Rust scored the first one when a shot was blocked by Vlasic and the puck came loose to the side of the net where nobody was so he put it in. Chris Sheary got the net one after one minute and two seconds of the first goal when he got a backhand pass from Sidney Crosby from the other side and he shot the puck in over Jones's shoulder from the circle. That whole period you could tell that Crosby was really giving it everything he had and he could've easily scored more if it hadn't been for Martin Jones though. Tomas Hertl got the Sharks within 1 when he got the puck at the side of the net and turned and shot it and it somehow got past Murray. Patrick Marleau tied it with 1:48 left in the second when he got a rebound and wrapped it around and the puck snuck in. Nick Bonino got the game winner with 2:33 left in the third when Letang passed it to him in front of the net and he weakily shot it over Jones. Also Brent Burns did not have a stick on the play and might have been able to block it. Game two is on the first at 8:00 Pm Et and it should be close again. Remember that this is only game one and the series is far from over so don't panic if you're a Sharks fan especially since they've been in a situation like this. Can the Sharks win game 2? Can the Penguins keep up the pace? Will the Penguins take a 2-0 series lead? stay tuned....

2016 Stanley Cup Final Preview

The finals start tomorrow and it should be a memorable one for sure. First off the coaches have lead their teams to the finals with Mike Sullivan coming in after Mike Johnston got fired when the Penguins kept on losing games. Mike Sullivan lead his team to a 33-16-5 record to the playoffs. Peter DeBoer was the new head coach for the Sharks and used his past experience from the New Jersey Devils to get his team back into the playoffs after missing it the year before. Both teams have amazing coaches which should be something to look after in the finals. Sidney Crosby is trying to tie Mario Lemieux with two cups and build his legacy as a Pittsburgh Penguin. Everyone on the Sharks is trying to make history with the first Stanley Cup for the Sharks in their 25 year history. Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau have been on the Sharks for the longest time and have never made it to the finals until now and they finally have a chance to get the Cup. Marleau has played for the Sharks for 1,576 game and 18 years and has always stayed loyal to the Sharks, and Joe Thornton has been with the Bruins first then got traded to the Sharks and has played 950 games with the Sharks. Phil Kessel has been getting total crap his whole career for being a non coach able player, but he can finally prove everyone wrong with a Stanley Cup and get the credit he deserves for being a superstar while playing for the Maple Leafs. There will be a crazy goalie battle between Matt Murray and Martin Jones who are both new to their teams and have been stellar in the playoffs. Matt Murray took the starting job from Marc-Andre Fleury and got replaced in game 5, but came back to win game 6 and 7. He has played for the Penguins the whole playoffs except for game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals and has been playing like Tim Thomas in the 2011 playoffs. Martin Jones was acquired from the Kings when he was a backup and has become the best goalie on the Sharks. The Hagelin Bonino and Kessel line is something to watch out for since as a second line they have dominated. The Pens have to watch out for Joe Pavelski who has 13goals in 18 playoff games for the Sharks. Kris Letang and Brent Burns are some of the league's best defenseman who will be battling it out for the Cup which should be entertaining. You should expect anything from this series and be entertained. Who will win it all? Who is the better goalie? Will the superstars show up in this series? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 42

THE PENGUINS ARE GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP FINAL. They beat the Lightning 2-1 in game seven and touched the Prince of Wales trophy. The reason is because in 2008 they didn't touch it and lost, but in 2009 they touched it and won. The game was very close, but the Lightning were out shot severely in the game. Also Steven Stamkos returned for the Lightning for the game, but only got a few shots. Bryan Rust played hero for the Penguins with two goals in the game with the second one being a lucky one. Bryan Rust as I said got the first one when he got a pass from Chris Kunitz while skating in the zone with speed and shot it in top shelf from the point. Jonathan Drouin tied it up for the Lightning and got the last goal for the Lightning this season when he got by Brian Dumoulin and fired it in top shelf. Bryan Rust got the last one of the game and game winner when Lovejoy's shot hit the board and Andrej Vasilevskiy tried to pick it up with his glove, but couldn't get it and the puck was left out for Rust to shove it in. The Penguins had a disallowed empty net goal when the puck hit someone on the Penguin's bench before it got put in the net. The Penguins will play the Sharks for the Stanley Cup and the NHL finally gets some new teams playing for the Stanley Cup. I'll do a Stanley Cup Final preview so watch out for that. The finals start on Memorial Day on the 30th and the Penguins have home ice advantage for that series as well. The Lightning did not get to go back to the finals for the second year in a row like they hoped, but they had to fight through injury after injury and the Lightning had an amazing playoff run, hopefully they'll be better for next year. Could the Lightning have won the game? Will touching the trophy work for the Penguins again? Who will win the Cup? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 41

THE SHARKS ARE GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP FINAL. The Sharks beat the Blues 5-2 in game 6 at home and have advanced to the finals. They will play the Lightning or Penguins. Joe Pavelski got the first one when Joe Thornton's shot missed and he snuck to the other side of the net and shoved it in when Elliot wasn't looking. Joel Ward extended the lead to 2 when he deflected a Brent Burns shot. Joel Ward scored again when he was in front of the net and a shot got stopped and he put the rebound in. Joonas Donskoi made it 4-0 when he one timed the puck in between the circles. Vladimir Tarasenko got his first goal of the series when Jones was down and he snapped it in from the edge of the left circle. Tarasenko scores again when he snuck it in from the side of the net while the Blues had an empty net. Logan Couture got an empty netter when he shot it in from the top of the circle. This is the Sharks first time in franchise history that they're in the finals. Nobody every expected the Sharks to be the Western Conference champions, and by beating the Blues. For the Blues this is a huge disappointment since they finally got past round one, but got stopped only 2 wins away from the finals. Can the Sharks win it all? Who will they play in the finals? Is this the last big playoff run for the Blues? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 40

The Penguins beat the Lightning 5-2 in Tampa and have forced a game 7 that will be played at Pittsburg. Jonathan Drouin got the first one, but the Penguins challenged it for offside and they won so it was disallowed. Phil Kessel got the real first one when he tipped in Crosby's hard pass in front of the net, and that was a 5 on 3 goal as well. Kris Letang extended the lead when he got a pass and shot it in from the top of the right circle. Sidney Crosby made it 3-0 with less than a minute left in the second when he got through the Lightning's defense and shot the puck 5-hole. Brian Boyle got one back when he backhanded one from the inside of the right circle, and Phil Kessel tried to block it, but instead it hits him and goes in. Brian Boyle scored again, but this time got the Lightning within one when he had the puck inside the right circle and shot it top shelf. Bryan Rust made it 4-2 when he got a breakaway and went backhand to his forehand and put it home with 2 minutes left in the game. Nick Bonino got an empty net goal, and that would be it for the Lightning as they have to play their second straight game 7 on the road in the conference finals. Can the Lightning get offence earlier? When
will Bishop be back? Who will take game 7? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 39

The Sharks were able to beat the Blues 6-3 in St. Louis and now have a chance to make it to the finals on home ice. Marc-Edouard-Vlasic got the first one when he got a pass from Joe Pavelski and slapped it in from the point.  Jaden Schwartz tied it when a shot hit Backes and the puck came loose so he could snap it home. Troy Borouwer got a nice looking goal when Paul Stastny shot it and it deflected high so Brouwer swung at it in mid-air and it went in. Joel Ward tied it up for the Sharks when Vlasic's shot hit the post and Ward was right there for the rebound goal. Robby Fabbri got the last goal for the Blues when he, Parayko, and Pietrangelo had some passes on the point and Fabbri just one timed it in. Joe Pavelski tied it at the end of the period when he one timed a Joe Thornton pass in between the circles. He scored again, but this time 16 seconds into the third when he tipped in Brent Burns shot from the point. Two empty net goals from Chris Tierneuy and Joel Ward finished the game. The Sharks are closer than ever before at the Cup since they're only one game away. The Blues on the other hand started Jake Allen again who got the Blues on win, but Brian Elliot could be the best option. You never knows though. Game 6 is at San Jose and game 7 is at St. Louis if needed. Can the Sharks finish the Blues? Will the Blues change goalies? Is this the year for the Sharks? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 38

The Lightning were down 2-0,, but they came back to win a huge game 5 in overtime and have put the Penguins of the verge of elimination. Marc Andre Fleury started this game instead of Matt Murray. Brian Dumoulin got the first one when Crosby had a breakaway with Hedman on the side of him put it on net with a back hand that got stopped, but Dumoulin snapped the rebound home with 0.7 seconds left in the1st period. Patric Hornqvist made it 2-0 when he got a deflected pass from Hagelin right in front of the net. Alex Killorn cut the lead in half when he fired it in short side in the left face off circle. Nikita Kucherov tied it up by one timing it in the left face off circle again on a pass from Namestnikov. Chris Kunitz gave the Penguins the lead again when he got a rebound off of Malkin's shot from the top of the circle. Ryan Callahan scored, but it was called off which should've killed the Lightning, but Nikita Kucherov kept fighting a tied it by wrapping it around the net and scoring. Tyler Johnson ended it in overtime end Garrison's shot hit his back and went in. Both teams and goalies fought well, but the Lightning manage to break through. The Sharks and Blues play tonight and the Penguins and Lightning play game 6 tomorrow. Can the Penguins survive game 6? Will Fleury start that game? Can the Lightning make
it to the finals again? stay tuned....

Sunday, May 22, 2016

Playoffs Day 37

The Blues were able to tie up the series 2-2 by winning 6-3 at San Jose. Jake Allen started for the Blues this game and probably the rest as well. Troy Brouwer got the first goal on a one timer while in front of the net on a pass from Fabbri. Jori Lehtera got the second one on a rebound on Fabbri's shot. Kyle Brodziak got the next 2 with the first one was a snap shot after receiving a pass from Jaden Schwartz. The second one was a one timer in front of the net on a pass from Dmitrij Jaskin. That goal got Martin Jones pulled for James Reimer. Joe Pavelski made it 4-1 on a pass from Joe Thornton from the point to the front of the net. Troy Brouwer scored again, but this time a deflection from Alex Steen's slap shot from the point. Chris Tierney made it 5-2 when the puck came loose at the front of the net and he was able to put it in. Alex Pietrangelo got an empty netter and Melker Karlsson got the last one, but it matter as St. Louis went on to win 6-3 and have it ties 2-2 going back to St. Louis. The Penguins and Lightning play game 5 tonight at Pittsburg at 8:00 ET tonight. Can the Sharks bounce back with a win? Will Elliot play this year again? Can the Blues keep this offense? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 36

The Lightning beat the Penguin 4-3, but the Lightning were up 4-0 in the third and the Penguins scored three to almost comeback. Also Trevor Daley had a leg injury in a collision against the boards  and did not return for the rest of the game and Matt Murray got pulled for the third period and had Marc Andre Fleury play for the first time since March 31. Ryan Callahan got the first goal 27 seconds into the game when he tipped in Victor Hedman's shot. Andrej Sustr got the second one when he got a pass across the zone from Nikita Kucherov and was able to put it in one the open side. Jonathan Drouin got the third one when he and Palat shared passes in front of the net and Drouin batted it in the net. Tyler Johnson who got hit in the face with a puck in warm-ups got the game winner when Kucherov continued his amazing passing this time to Johnson and he finished it off in the net. The Penguins partial comeback starts here when Phil Kessel just shot it in while skating in the zone off a pass from Nick Bonino. Evgeni Malkin got the second one for the Penguins when he somehow got past the Lightning's defense and got close to the net and shot it in. Chris Kunitz got the last one for Pittsburg when he got a rebound off of Justin Schultz's deflection off of Chris Sheary's shot. The Penguins would have an empty net for the last little bit, but the came close, but couldn't complete the comeback. Will Murray start game 5? How long will Daley be out? Who will take game 5? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 35

The Sharks are now only 2 wins away from making it to the Stanley Cup Finals after they shut out the Blues for the second game in a row 3-0. Tomas Hertl got the game winning and first goal of the game when he slapped it in one the top of the blue line after a nice passing play coming in. Joonas Donskoi made it 2-0 by receiving a pass from Logan Couture while the two were skating in the Blues zone. Donskoi he shot it past Elliot on his left side. Tomas Hertl scored once again making it 3-0 when he got a pass from Joe Thornton who was behind the second red line and Hertl was behind the net so he skated out front and turned so he could wrist shot it in. That would be it as the Blues once again can't find their offence and may have to make a goalie change so Jake Allen can come in for the Blues. If the third round were to end right now it would be the Penguins and Sharks in the finals. Game 4 of the Penguins and Lightning is tonight. Can the Blues get their offence going? Will the Blues change their goalies? Can the Sharks continue their success? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 34

The Penguins were able to beat the Lightning 4-2 on the road to take a 2-1 series lead heading into game 4 which is still at Tampa Bay. The Penguins had loads of chances the whole time so the could've scored a lot more. Carl Hagelin scored when he got a clean rebound off of Kessel's shot and with 10 seconds to go in the second period. Phil Kessel scored himself this time when he received a ass from Nick Bonino who was behind the net to himself when he was in front of the net, and that goal made it 2-0. Tyler Johnson got it with one when he received a drop pass from Kucherov and skated up with the puck and scored to make it 2-1. Sidney Crosby responded when he one timed it one the side of the net on a pass from Malkin. Chris Kunitz got the last goal for the Penguins by getting an odd rebound on his own shot when the puck was poked to him so he snapped it home to make it 4-1. Ondrej Palat got the 5th goal of the period when he one timed a shot on the top of the circle on a pass from Kucherov. Can the Penguins put the Lightning on the brink of elimination? Will the Lightning regain control over the series? Have the Penguins already beat the Lightning? stay tuned....

Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Playoffs Day 33

The Sharks were able to shut out the Blues 4-0 in St. Louis to tie the series at 1 going to San Jose. Tommy Wingels got the first goal when he got a pass in the middle and shot in past Elliot. Brent Burns got the next one with a one timer slap shot on a pass from Joe Pavelski. Brent Burns scored again to make it 3-0 by doing another one time slap shot this time from the point and from a pass from Patrick Marleau. Dainius Zubrus got the empty netter by doing a no look backhand form his own blue line to make it 4-0. This game showed the St. Louis still doesn't have it easy and that the Sharks want the cup just as much as St. Louis does as well. The Blues need to play a better defensive game and wake up the offence more, but the Sharks also need more depth scoring for support in this series. Can the Sharks shut out the Blues again? Will the Blues get their offence back? Can he Blues tie up the series? stay tuned....

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

Playoffs Day 32

The Penguins tied up the series even though Anton Stralman returned to the Lightning from injury. Andrei Vasilevskiy did play for the Lightning as well making 38 saves. Matt Cullen scored the first goal when he got a rebound on Eric Fehr's shot. Phil Kessel got the next one when he got a weird pass from Bonino who was falling down in front of the net so he put it in to make it 2-0. Anton Stralman cut the lead in half in his return when he got a pass across from Jonathan Machessault and put in in over Murray's glove. Jonathan Drouin tied up the game when he was skating in the zone and had a nice wrist shot that when through Murray. Nothing else really happened in the second and third period, but in overtime Sidney Crosby got his first career playoff overtime goal. Bryan Rust passed it to Crosby who was on the top of the circle, and he one timed it and it went in. The series is now tied at one and will be going to Tampa Bay tied. The Blues and Sharks play game 2 tonight. Will the Lightning get Stamkos back? Can the Penguins continue this offense? Who will take game 3? stay tuned....

Monday, May 16, 2016

Playoffs Day 31

The Blues beat the Sharks 2-1 in a tone setting game and it showed that this series should be close. Also I'd like to apologize because when I said the Sharks were in their first western conference finals since 2010, I meant 2011. Both teams technically had a goal disallowed. David Backes got the first goal of a deflection on Jaden Schwartz's slap shot. Tomas scored after that with a deflection from a slap shot from Brent Burns. Jori Letera had an unassisted goal by slapping it in that got past Martin Jones. That would be it as the Blues took a 1-0 series lead in their first western conference finals game since 2001. The Sharks just need some more depth to push them to a win so. Game 2 should be close to the same thing, but probably more scoring. Today the Penguins and Lightning play game 2 and these guys play game 2 on Tuesday. Can the Blues score more goals? Will the Sharks tie up the series? Who will be the better goalie? stay tuned....

Saturday, May 14, 2016

Playoffs Day 30

The Lightning and Penguins played a very violent game with injuries to Ben Bishop, Kris Letang (who returned to the game), Tyler Johnson, and Brian Dumoulin. The Lightning had to put in Andrei Vasilevskiy in the first period and he made 25 saves on 26 shots. The injury to Tyler Johnson is a big one since he is one of their best centers. These injures are just another hurtle the Lightning have to jump over. Alex Killorn scored first on a breakaway when he stickhandled in front of Murray and put in 5-hole on the backhander. Ondrej Palat doubles the lead to 2 when h got a rebound off of Valtteri Filppula's shot. Jonathan Drouin made it 3-0 on a one timer from Ondrej Palat on a 2 on 1. Patric Hornqvist made it 3-1 on a great pass by Sidney Crosby to shoot it in. That would not be enough as the Lightning went on to win it 3-1, but both teams had some injuries that game to deal with. There is no game today, but on Sunday the Blues and sharks will play game 1 of the western conference finals. Can the Lightning overcome even more injuries? Will the Penguins get a bounce back effort? How long will Bishop be out? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 28 and 29

I am back from my trip and I missed two blowout game 7s so instead of listing every scorer, I'm just going to talk about about it. The Blues killed the Stars 6-1 which sent them to the conference final. There were three goals in the first which got Kari Lehtonen pulled. Lehtonen let-in too many goals (get it?) sorry. The Blues now have a chance to go to the Stanley cup finals for the first time since 1970. The Stars were the best team in the western conference in the regular season and were not able to be the best for the postseason. If Tyler Seguin was playing for the Stars for the playoffs it could have been different.  The Sharks also killed the Predators 5-0 at home an will be in the western conference final against the Blues. The game had Pekka Rinne go crazy and destroy his stick on the post and he allowed all 5 goals. This is a huge step for the Sharks since they have not had true success in the playoffs since 2010 and could really win the cup this year. The Predators had a good season with new additions to the team, but couldn't put up a fight for game 7. The Predators were close and should still be good next year so the future is bright. Do you guys like this style of posting or should I go back to the old way, I may do both I'll see. If Tyler Seguin played would the Stars have won? Will the Sharks go all the way? Will any team choke in the conference finals? stay tuned....

No Post

I am going on a school trip that will not allow me to post today and Thursday. I will post on Friday night when I return, but I can't really post now. If you are wondering the Penguins beat the Capitals in overtime 4-3 on Nick Bonino's goal. They will play the Lightning for the Eastern Conference finals. Remember that I'll be back Friday night so come back then. stay tuned....

Tuesday, May 10, 2016

Playoffs Day 26

Each game 6 had the team that was losing win the game to force a game 7 to decide who goes to the western conference final. The Stars survived elimination by beating the Blues 3-2 and their first two goals were 20 seconds apart. Mattias Janmark, Vernon Fiddler, and Jason Spezza scored the first three goals of the game. Alex Steen and Patrik Berglund tried to spark a comeback, but that was it for the Blues. The Predators also survived elimination by winning 4-3 in overtime against the Sharks. They were down by two in the first until Roman Josi scored in the first, then Ryan Johansen scored in the second, Colin Wilson scored in the third, and Viktor Arvidsson scored a slick backhander to finish it off. So far the home team has won every game in this series. Game 7 is at San Jose. Can the Blues close out the Stars? Will the Predators finish their comeback? Will the pattern continue? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 25

The Islanders have been eliminated in 5 games by the Lightning by losing 4-0 in Tampa Bay. Victor Hedman scored first when he kind of spun around at the point and put a wrist shot on the net that ended up going in because Thomas Greiss was being screened by Tyler Johnson. Brian Boyle had  nifty goal when he did a behind he back one handed deke at the side of the net to end up shooting it in. Victor Hedman scored again in the second this time on a one timer slap shot on a pass from Jonathan Drouin that went 5-hole. Nikita Kucherov scored a breakaway goal on a pass form ALex Killorn. Kucherov just shot it in to make it 4-0 in the third period to really put it away. The Lightning have made the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year and will the winner of the Penguins Capitals series. Who will the Lightning play? Are the Islanders still going to make the playoffs next year? Can the Lightning make it to the final again? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 24

Sorry this is very late, but today is mother's day so I had no time to do an early post. Second of all I'm considering changing the color of the site to black so vote on the poll on the right and I'll base my decision on that. Third of all I have been posting everyday so please bare with me if my posts aren't as good since I'm the only one posting stuff and running this site on a busty schedule, anyways there were three games yesterday that all made the series 3-2. The Capitals beat the Penguins 3-1 last night to keep the season alive and force a game 6 in Pittsburg. Alex Ovechkin, T.J Oshie, and Justin Willims scored for the Caps and Chris Kunitz was the only scorer for the Pens. The Blues beat the Stars 4-1 in Dallas to make the series 3-2. Robby Fabbri, Dmitrij Jaskin, Troy Brouwer, and Paul Stastny scored the empty netter. Alex Goligowski was the only scorer for Dallas. The Stars really need to get the offense going and it has been weaker since Tyler Seguin as injured again. The Sharks took back control of the series as the cruised past the Predators 5-1 at home and will have a chance to make it to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2010 where they lost to the Blackhawks in 4 games. Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski again, and Malker Karlsson all scored for the Sharks. Mike Fisher was the only scorer for the Preds. Will the Capitals force a game 7? Can Dallas get more offence? Can the Sharks close it out? stay tuned....

Saturday, May 7, 2016

Playoffs Day 23

There was only one game yesterday, but it went into overtime and the score was 2-1 in favor of the Lightning and that gets them a 3-1 series lead heading back to Tampa Bay. Kyle Okposo was the first and only scorer for the Islanders when he got a pass in front of the net on a tic-tac-toe play. That was his second goal of the playoffs. Nikita Kucherov scored his eighth goal of the playoffs to tie up the game by putting in a one timer by the side of the net. Jason Garrison won it in overtime with a bomb from the point on a one timer. The Islanders could have easily been up 3-1 in the series of at least have it 2-2 if the could have kept a lead or win one of the games in overtime. One reason the Lightning are up is because of depth and experience. The Lightning made it to the finals last year and were only 2 wins away from winning it all, but the Islanders in 2013 and 2015 have just been eliminated in the first round. That is really playing a key role for the Lightning this series. Can the Lightning finish the series off? Will the Islanders make a comeback? Will the Islanders make any changes for game 5? stay tuned....

Friday, May 6, 2016

Playoffs Day 22

Both games ended up going to overtime and one went to triple overtime. The Stars beat the Blues 3-2 in overtime to tie the series at 2 and the game was really evenly matched. Radek Faksa and Patrick Sharp scored in regulation for the Stars, and Cody Eakin won it in overtime on a pass from Patric Sharp. Vladimir Tarasenko and Paul Stastny were the only two scorer for the Blues. The Predators and Sharks took it to triple overtime and it ended up having the Predators win it 4-3. Colin Wilson, James Neal, and Mike Fisher scored twice including the overtime goal on a rebound. Brent Burns Joonas Donskoi scored for the Sharks, but Brent Burns had two goals that game. You should note that Burns is scoring and getting points in almost every game so he could be a Conn Smyth winner if the Sharks make it to the finals. Can the Blues take another lead in game 5? Are the Predators making a true comeback? Have the Sharks lost control over the series? stay tuned....

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Playoffs Day 21

Only the Penguins and Capitals played today which ad the Penguins win in overtime 3-2 to get a 3-1 series lead. Jay Beagle was the first to strike when he got a rebound in the corner and put it in on his backhand. Trevor Daley scored next with the puck deflected off of Alzner so it was a bouncy puck in the net. Matt Cullen scored next when he had a breakaway right of the center ice face off. John Carlson tied it when he got a pass in front of the net with nobody near him so he put in in with a wrist shot. Patric Horqvist won it in overtime with a one timer in front of the net. The Capitals will face elimination and will play the most important game this whole year at home. The Penguins won without Kris Letang as well. Can the Capitals score more? Will the Penguins knock them off? Will the Capitals stay alive? stay tuned....

Wednesday, May 4, 2016

Playoffs Day 20

This was a high scoring day with three games played. The Lighting beat the Islanders 5-4 in overtime after Nikita Kucherov tied the game up with 38 seconds remaining in the game Brian Boyle won it in overtime. The game was back and forth the whole time. Ryan Callahan, Vladislav Namestnikv, Victor Hedman, Nikita Kucherov, and Brian Boyle scored for the Lightning. Cal Clutterbuck, Nick Leddy and Josh Bailey scored twice for the Islanders. The Lightning lead the series 2-1. The Predators beat the Sharks 4-1 now only down 2-1 in the series. Filip Forsberg, Colin Wilson, Shea Weber, and James Neal scored for the Predators. Patrick was the first scored of the game and the only goal for the Sharks. The Blues killed the Stars 6-1 with the Stars striking first and Antti Niemi got pulled after allowing 3 goals. Troy Brouwer, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Alex Steen and David Backes both scored twice for the Blues. Colton Sceviour scored the first goal of the game and only goal for the Stars. The series is now 2-1 in favor of the Blues.  Can the Islanders get control over the series? Will the Predators make a comeback? Can the Stars tie up the series? stay tuned....

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

Playoffs Day 19

There was only one game played which was the Capitals and Penguins in game 3 with the Penguins taking it 3-2 after allowing a mini comeback. Patric Hornqvist scored the first goal by deflecting Trevor Daley's shot from the point. Tom Kuhnhackl scored on a deflection of Matt Cullen's shot it front of the net. Carl Hagelin was in the blue are of the net when the puck came there so he jammed it home in the net. Alex Ovechkin had insane wrist shot that went right under the bar to make it 3-1. Justin Williams goat a rebound while the Capitals had an empty net to make it 3-2 with 56 seconds left, but that was not enough for the Capitals to make a comeback. Matt Murray had a career high of 47 saves in one game to really save the Penguins. He also has 5 wins and one loss in the playoffs so far which is amazing as a rookie goalie in the playoffs. Are the Capitals losing control? Can Matt Murray keep having amazing games like this? Will the Penguins take a bigger lead in the series? stay tuned....

Monday, May 2, 2016

Playoffs Day 18

Every game was decided by one goal with the Blues winning one in overtime. The Blues beat the Stars 4-3 in overtime after allowing the Stars to make a third period comeback. Troy Brouwer, Patrik Berglund, Joel Edmundson, and David Backes scored on his birthday in the first overtime. Alex Goligoski, Mattias Janmark, and Jamie Benn scored for Dallas with two of those coming in the third period. The Sharks have extended their series lead on the Predators to -0 with a 3-2 win at home.Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski, and Joe Thornton all scored for the Sharks. Thornton's gol was an empty netter to make it 3-1. Mattias Ekholm and once again Ryan Johansen scored for the Predators. The Predators need to get more depth scoring to get back in this series instead of having Ryan Johansen always one of the only people scoring. Can the Stars break the tie? Will the Sharks get a 3-0 series lead? Can the Predators get more depth scoring? stay tuned....

Maple Leafs Win Draft Lottery

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the second ever draft lottery and will most likely get Auston Matthews. They had a 20% chance of winning the first pick which is as high as you can go and it paid off for them. The Oilers got 4th overall which means they won't have 5 first overall picks in 7 years. The Leafs did an amazing job a t tanking this year by trading away their best players for draft picks. The lottery had the 14 teams that didn't make the playoffs gathers and see who wins it. 1. Maple Leafs 2. Jets 3. Blue Jackets 4. Oilers 5. Canucks 6. Flames 7. Coyotes 8. Sabres 9. Canadiens 10. Avalanche 11. Devils 12. Senators 13. Hurricanes 14. Bruins. This doesn't mean the Maple Leafs will be the best team or see a huge difference, this is only 1 step for their rebuild, the may want to tank next year to draft high again. Brendan Shanahan did not say who he was going to pick though because he could still pick Patrick Laine so it is all in the hands of Shanahan. This is a great thing for the hockey world since for once the Oilers don't get the first pick, but the Leafs were the team that really needed it. Will this have an impact on how the Leafs play next year? Who will they pick? Will the Leafs tank next year? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 17

The Lightning and Penguins both tied their playoff series last night so there will be at least 5 games in the series. The Lightning beat the Islanders 4-1 in dominating fashion. Jonathan Drouin scored his first playoff goal, Tyler Johnson had two with one being an empty netter, and Victor Hedman put in a slap shot. Nikolay Kulemin was the only scorer for the Islanders. The Penguins and Capitals played a really close game with the Penguins winning it 2-1. Carl Hagelin and the former Capital player Eric Fehr scored for the Pens with 4 minutes and 28 seconds to go in the game.  Marcus Johansson was the only scorer for the Caps which continued their offensive struggles. The Penguins dominated with shots on goal the first period with 14 shots to the Capitals 5 and the next shot for the Capitals was with 5 minutes and 12 second to go in the second by Alex Ovechkin shooting it. The series is now tied at 3 going back to Pittsburg. Can the Islanders get more offense? Can the Penguins dominate again? Can the Capitals get some offense from Alex Ovechkin? stay tuned....
