The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the second ever draft lottery and will most likely get Auston Matthews. They had a 20% chance of winning the first pick which is as high as you can go and it paid off for them. The Oilers got 4th overall which means they won't have 5 first overall picks in 7 years. The Leafs did an amazing job a t tanking this year by trading away their best players for draft picks. The lottery had the 14 teams that didn't make the playoffs gathers and see who wins it. 1. Maple Leafs 2. Jets 3. Blue Jackets 4. Oilers 5. Canucks 6. Flames 7. Coyotes 8. Sabres 9. Canadiens 10. Avalanche 11. Devils 12. Senators 13. Hurricanes 14. Bruins. This doesn't mean the Maple Leafs will be the best team or see a huge difference, this is only 1 step for their rebuild, the may want to tank next year to draft high again. Brendan Shanahan did not say who he was going to pick though because he could still pick Patrick Laine so it is all in the hands of Shanahan. This is a great thing for the hockey world since for once the Oilers don't get the first pick, but the Leafs were the team that really needed it.
