NHL as of January 17th

Sorry this is late, but the NHL during the past week and two days has been sort of interesting. The Capitals had a 9 game winning streak snapped in an 8-7 loss to the Penguins. In case I forgot to tell you guys, the NHL is not allowing alternate uniforms for the 2017-2018 season because Adidas is taking over reebok as the NHL jersey supplier and to make it easier for them, there will be no third jerseys for a year. I know that sucks. I also just learned that the only good part about the all star skill competition, the break away challenge is done so no more fun at the all star competition now. Read a good article focusing about it here http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nhl-kills-all-star-breakaway-challenge-as-fun-is-dead-055927332.html >:(  Besides that I don't have anything else to report. Notable injuries are below Will the Capitals have another long winning streak? Will the NHL allow alternate uniforms ever again? Will the NHL bring back the breakaway challenge? stay tuned....

NHL as of January 8th

So this was an interesting week that had major injuries, a winning streak lost, and team U.S.A beat Canada to win the gold medal in the world junior championship. First off the Blue Jackets' 16 game winning streak was lost to the Capitals when they were beat 5-0 plus the Blue Jackets lost to the Rangers last night when they blew a 4-1 lead in the third. They were one game shy of tying the NHL record of 17 straight. Patrick Laine has been diagnosed with a concussion during a game against the Sabres on an open ice hit from Jake McCabe and is out indefinitely. Brendan Gallagher of the Canadiens injured his left hand again hen he took a 97 MPH slap shot from Shea Weber to his left hand and will be out for 8 weeks. The Maple Leafs were in a playoff spot, but now are tied with the Senators with 44 points. Beside that I have nothing else to say, but to watch the NFL playoffs if your favorite team isn't on. Plus when the NHL centennial fan arena comes to your town, you should go to it and check out a museum, virtual reality Zamboni, ball hockey, trivia, a picture of you touching the real Stanley Cup, and much more. I will go and you should as well. https://www.nhl.com/fans/nhl-centennial/fan-arena Notable injuries are below. Will the Maple Leafs make the playoffs? How long will Patrick Laine be out? Can the Blue Jackets maintain first in the NHL? stay tuned....

Notable Injuries
Jamie Benn - unknown
Nick Bjugstad - 2 weeks
Brendan Gallagher - 8 weeks
James Neal - unknown
Rick Nash - unknown
Mark Streit - long term
Brian Boyle - unknown
Patrick Laine - unknown

NHL as of January 3rd

This past week of the NHL has been something truly special from outdoor games to a 14 game versus a 12 game winning streak game. I want to first shout out the Wild for having a 12 twelve game winning streak, but it got snapped to the Blue Jackets who are currently on a 15 game winning streak which is two games away from the NHL record of 17. The game was 4-2 Blue Jackets and it really proved that the Jackets deserve to be undefeated in December which is absolutely crazy. The Blue Jackets are first in the NHL with 56 points and should easily make the playoffs. The outdoor games were very interesting and depressing for me. The Centennial Classic between the Maple Leafs and Red Wings was just plain awesome and it had the Leafs up 4-1 in the third (like 2013) and blow the lead. The Wings scored with under a second left, but Auston Matthews scored his second goal of the game in overtime to win it 5-4. The Winter had the Blackhawks and Blues play a very tight game that was tied at one until Vladimir Tarasenko scored two in the third period and the Blues got an empty netter to win the game 4-1. Shout out to my team the Blackhawks on going 1-4 in all of their outdoor games. The All Star captains were announced today for the game and skill competition in Los Angeles on the 29th. Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, P.K. Subban, and Carey Price. Just pointing out that Steven Stamkos of the Lightning is off of crutches and could be back soon to help the out of playoff position Lightning. Since this post is too long I'll just once again post a link to all of the injuries in the NHL. Happy New Year everyone and I hope to start getting back into things especially since I missed last week due to the holidays. When will the Blue Jackets lose? Will the Blackhawks get yet another outdoor game? Is Stamko's career ruined because of injuries? stay tuned....

The Legend Himself

So Jaromir Jagr finally passed Mark Messier in total points and now sits at number 2 of all time in total points behind Wayne Gretzky. At age 44 Jagr is still going and we have no clue when he'll ever stop playing in the NHL. Somehow he is still a scoring threat and his reaction to his huge milestone was that winning the game was more important and the Panthers lost their game against the Bruins. Just wanted to point this out, and my normal posts will resume on Sunday which is Christmas so Merry Christmas people. How long will Jagr play in the NHL? Can Jagr play longer than Gordie Howe? Will Jagr stay with the Panthers? stay tuned....

NHL as of December 12th

Last week in the NHL was just crazy including last night when Patrick Laine literally one timed the puck in his net, just look it up on youtube. We found out that the Vegas Golden Knights' trademark was rejected so now the NHL and the Golden Knights will have to deal with that. The Blue Jackets were undefeated this week and 4th in the NHL at one point, but are now 6th which is still good for the playoffs. The Canadiens murdered the Avalanche 10-1 at home a few days ago which kind of makes up for their 10-0 loss to the Blue Jackets earlier this season. The Flames are on fire (pun) and moved up to 1stin the pacific division at one point, but are 3rd now just one point behind. The Flyers unveiled their stadium series jerseys and they in my opinion are the best outdoor game 2017 jerseys in my opinion. Also the Flyers are on a 9 game winning streak. http://www.espn.com/nhl/injuries sorry I have no time to post them so just use the link for this week. Will the Golden Knights name be changed? Can the Flames continue their comeback? How long will the Flyers winning streak last? stay tuned....

NHL as of December 4th

This past week in the NHL was as usual really good which had the Blackhawks take over 1st place for 1 day than go back to the Carey Prices' I mean the Canadiens. The current top 5 in the NHL are 1. Canadiens 2. Rangers 3. Blackhawks 4. Penguins 5. Blue Jackets so original six teams are doing pretty well. Plus the Blue Jackets are on fire and just keep winning and have jumped to third in the Metro division. Yesterday Mike Smith of the Coyotes made 58 saves against the Blue Jackets and still lost 3-2 in a shootout and almost smashed his stick, but didn't. The Avalanche and Coyotes are now the two worst teams since the Islanders won a few games to move up to 26th in the league. Beside all of that last week wasn't as crazy, but still had some good games. Also the Centennial and Winter Classic are less than one month away so it's time to get excited for that. Lastly I should mention that Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford had an emergency appendectomy surgery right before playing the Flyers and is out for 2-3 weeks now. So as usual the injuries are below. Will the Canadiens stay in first? Are the Blue Jackets going to stay at the top? Will the Coyotes ever move out of the bottom two? stay tuned....
