Playoffs Day 22

Both games ended up going to overtime and one went to triple overtime. The Stars beat the Blues 3-2 in overtime to tie the series at 2 and the game was really evenly matched. Radek Faksa and Patrick Sharp scored in regulation for the Stars, and Cody Eakin won it in overtime on a pass from Patric Sharp. Vladimir Tarasenko and Paul Stastny were the only two scorer for the Blues. The Predators and Sharks took it to triple overtime and it ended up having the Predators win it 4-3. Colin Wilson, James Neal, and Mike Fisher scored twice including the overtime goal on a rebound. Brent Burns Joonas Donskoi scored for the Sharks, but Brent Burns had two goals that game. You should note that Burns is scoring and getting points in almost every game so he could be a Conn Smyth winner if the Sharks make it to the finals. Can the Blues take another lead in game 5? Are the Predators making a true comeback? Have the Sharks lost control over the series? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 21

Only the Penguins and Capitals played today which ad the Penguins win in overtime 3-2 to get a 3-1 series lead. Jay Beagle was the first to strike when he got a rebound in the corner and put it in on his backhand. Trevor Daley scored next with the puck deflected off of Alzner so it was a bouncy puck in the net. Matt Cullen scored next when he had a breakaway right of the center ice face off. John Carlson tied it when he got a pass in front of the net with nobody near him so he put in in with a wrist shot. Patric Horqvist won it in overtime with a one timer in front of the net. The Capitals will face elimination and will play the most important game this whole year at home. The Penguins won without Kris Letang as well. Can the Capitals score more? Will the Penguins knock them off? Will the Capitals stay alive? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 19

There was only one game played which was the Capitals and Penguins in game 3 with the Penguins taking it 3-2 after allowing a mini comeback. Patric Hornqvist scored the first goal by deflecting Trevor Daley's shot from the point. Tom Kuhnhackl scored on a deflection of Matt Cullen's shot it front of the net. Carl Hagelin was in the blue are of the net when the puck came there so he jammed it home in the net. Alex Ovechkin had insane wrist shot that went right under the bar to make it 3-1. Justin Williams goat a rebound while the Capitals had an empty net to make it 3-2 with 56 seconds left, but that was not enough for the Capitals to make a comeback. Matt Murray had a career high of 47 saves in one game to really save the Penguins. He also has 5 wins and one loss in the playoffs so far which is amazing as a rookie goalie in the playoffs. Are the Capitals losing control? Can Matt Murray keep having amazing games like this? Will the Penguins take a bigger lead in the series? stay tuned....

Maple Leafs Win Draft Lottery

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won the second ever draft lottery and will most likely get Auston Matthews. They had a 20% chance of winning the first pick which is as high as you can go and it paid off for them. The Oilers got 4th overall which means they won't have 5 first overall picks in 7 years. The Leafs did an amazing job a t tanking this year by trading away their best players for draft picks. The lottery had the 14 teams that didn't make the playoffs gathers and see who wins it. 1. Maple Leafs 2. Jets 3. Blue Jackets 4. Oilers 5. Canucks 6. Flames 7. Coyotes 8. Sabres 9. Canadiens 10. Avalanche 11. Devils 12. Senators 13. Hurricanes 14. Bruins. This doesn't mean the Maple Leafs will be the best team or see a huge difference, this is only 1 step for their rebuild, the may want to tank next year to draft high again. Brendan Shanahan did not say who he was going to pick though because he could still pick Patrick Laine so it is all in the hands of Shanahan. This is a great thing for the hockey world since for once the Oilers don't get the first pick, but the Leafs were the team that really needed it. Will this have an impact on how the Leafs play next year? Who will they pick? Will the Leafs tank next year? stay tuned....

Playoffs Day 17

The Lightning and Penguins both tied their playoff series last night so there will be at least 5 games in the series. The Lightning beat the Islanders 4-1 in dominating fashion. Jonathan Drouin scored his first playoff goal, Tyler Johnson had two with one being an empty netter, and Victor Hedman put in a slap shot. Nikolay Kulemin was the only scorer for the Islanders. The Penguins and Capitals played a really close game with the Penguins winning it 2-1. Carl Hagelin and the former Capital player Eric Fehr scored for the Pens with 4 minutes and 28 seconds to go in the game.  Marcus Johansson was the only scorer for the Caps which continued their offensive struggles. The Penguins dominated with shots on goal the first period with 14 shots to the Capitals 5 and the next shot for the Capitals was with 5 minutes and 12 second to go in the second by Alex Ovechkin shooting it. The series is now tied at 3 going back to Pittsburg. Can the Islanders get more offense? Can the Penguins dominate again? Can the Capitals get some offense from Alex Ovechkin? stay tuned....
